What I mean is that the books clearly portray Katniss as seeing the Hunger Games as a messed-up form of entertainment that makes light of killing and death. Whereas in the movies I got the sense that Katniss didn't care.
Plus, breaking up the last book into two movies made the pacing slower.

I agree! Although, I've never watched the first three movies. (I've heard about the changes).

Yeah, the changes weren't that bad, it was just that the story worked far better as a book than a movie due to the fact that the book tells Katniss' thoughts, whereas the movie only shows Katniss' actions.
