Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments There are a lot of quotes w/o spoiler tags there. You don't think it gives too much away for those who haven't read it?

message 4: by Ela (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ela | 4291 comments Hmmmmmmm...

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments The title in that discussion clearly states "spoilers" so I assumed it was for those of us who've read it already.

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I didn't know there was one already....we can just get rid of this one if that's easier :)

message 7: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) Since the other one is already titled 'The Queen and the Cure', why not use this one for TBatS and save that one for the second book? Then the quotes won't be potential spoilers for whoever has already read TBatS.

message 8: by Ela (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ela | 4291 comments YOU ARE all right! Oh and I changed the title after I saw Lisa create this one. Just curious, why didn't you link the book into this spoiler?

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Ela wrote: "YOU ARE all right! Oh and I changed the title after I saw Lisa create this one. Just curious, why didn't you link the book into this spoiler?"

Me, link a book? Oh Ela, you are too precious. I'm lucky I was able to find this discussion!!!

message 10: by Lisa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I really am hoping you don't have to like draw me pictures and stuff with this book, guys! I am not one who "gets" things from flowery literary prose and connects all the dots. That's why I know I need to do this as a BR so that someone can take me aside and draw charts and graphs and connect the dots for me...or maybe it won't be that hard!!! I need things like "John inserted tab a into Marcia's slot b"...you know, simple doesn't-have-to-be-thought-about stuff!! If I have to interpret that the fluttering of Meg's wings signified her desire to be of one with the unicorn, I'm doomed!!!

message 11: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) Lisa--I'm the same way. I started reading all those quotes that Ela posted, and though they are beautiful and GREATLY APPRECIATED, Ela!--I got confused very quickly. You're NOT alone! lol

message 12: by Nay (last edited Apr 14, 2017 09:48AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) Lisa--go to the top of the first page of this thread, and you will see a little 'edit' clicky link right after the '4/17)' in the title, like this:

2017- Buddy Reads > The Bird and the Sword BR (Starts 4/17) (edit)

Click on the 'edit' and then where it says 'This topic is about', type in 'The Bird and the Sword' and then click on the book in the listing (should be listed first) and then click 'save'.

That will link the book to the discussion. You're the only one who can see the little 'edit' link since you created the thread. Or maybe Grey, as the moderator can as well? I'm not sure.

I loaded it last night and started the first couple of pages. I have to finish working on a couple things for my certification. Then I will get to it.

message 24: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) I'm at 22%--nothing really to discuss yet I don't think?? But I'm enjoying it so far.

Ela | 4291 comments Really?! (view spoiler)

message 26: by Nay (last edited Apr 17, 2017 10:10AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) Well, there is that, but I guess everything's just more straightforward, or maybe simpler?, than I expected. I'm not having to make my way through a bunch of muck to understand everything--which is a good thing!

message 27: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) at around 27%, I'm glad that (view spoiler)

And an owl asking "who" when he really didn't want an answer. That's some amazing stuff I tell ya!!

message 33: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) I'm at 38%--it just gets better!

message 34: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) I stopped at episode 8 of Thirteen Reasons Why on Netflix, and I'm dying to see what happens next, so I'm going to watch that while y'all get a chance to read some.

message 38: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) I HAD to finish watching all the episodes of 13 Reasons Why (OMG the DRAMA, but I thought it was really good!), so now I'm probably behind.

Just got to 41%--I know, Lisa! I kinda thought that was where it was going though.

message 39: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) at 50%--OMG! (view spoiler) and at 51% (view spoiler)

message 40: by Lisa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments When will I stop being such a spoiler ho? I, of course, hadn't made it to 50 and 51% yet, but read the spoiler, LOL. And squeeeeeeee. I really can't believe how amazing this story really is. I have a client in from Seattle through Thursday, so my daytime reading is going to be severely hampered...and I have to go to dinner with them tonight, so now I'm gonna be jonesing to find time to get some reading in....I wonder how long it is acceptable to be in the bathroom throughout the day before people start wondering if you have some serious medical issues!! I shall put it to the test and find out!!

I fell asleep early last night and today is my first day back to work. my back is killing me. :-( my daughter has a track meet after school but I predict I will spend the rest of the time reading!

message 42: by Ela (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ela | 4291 comments Hope you feel better Grey!

I just finished. I'm home from work sick.

message 43: by Lisa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Oh, I hope your back feels better soon...is it still from that pirouette you took down the stairs a week ago?

And Ela - how the hell do you read so darn fast? I hope you feel better soon too!!!

message 44: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) Grey and Ela--feel better! And I was wondering the same thing Lisa asked--is your back screwed from your tumble??

Ela's a SPEEEED reader!

message 45: by Grey (new) - rated it 4 stars

Grey | 2385 comments Mod
yep. I haven't felt like since I did that, its been a week and a half... grrr. I pulled a bunch of muscles, strains and blah blah. not as young as I once was. plus its a re-injury, so more susceptible to begin with. anyway, enough of my sad tale. I'm just moving slowly and hoping for the best... and bedtime, I'm really looking forward to fu**ing bedtime. pardon my language.

message 46: by Ela (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ela | 4291 comments Oh please! Most of you ladies are just as fast! Don't think I don't see your updates!

Tessa | 1761 comments I hope you guys feel better. *huggles both and sprays lysol around Ela*

Nothing wrong with reading fast. :D

Nope, not a thing wrong with it! XD For some reason, I seem to read slower during a buddy read though, and I have no idea why.

Probably because I'm holding you back and keep telling you to slow down, Nay!!! You're an awesome buddy reader to read with!!

message 50: by Nay (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nay (4ukcats) Awwww you are too, Lisa. I'm finally at a point where I don't constantly fall asleep while I'm reading anymore! lol That's why I read that Nashoda Rose one with Ela super slowly, and now I'm going to dnf it because I have NO desire to go back and finish it.

Where are y'all percentage-wise??
