Alyssa E | 4 comments The use of religion was a bit odd. It would flip-flop between using religion as good, and then bad. I mean, in real life, all religion has aspects of both, but I didn't get the idea that that was what the author was going for.

Travis | 120 comments So, I just finished this the other day, and yeah, I couldn't decide if the religion was meant to be good or bad. I came to the conclusion that was by design for the reader to make up their own mind. I also agree that it was deliberately a human attribute, and thought it was an interesting take on it, that their faith was thought of as a disease that infected other species. That's not unlike how religion actually works. No one is born religious, they're taught to be so.

It got a bit overbearing for my personal taste by the end, but I was able to appreciate the duality of the way it was portrayed. Between that and the animals/humans/ants theme, I thought it was a really unique and interesting take on a war story. I definitely didn't not like it, but I think this will go down as a book I appreciated more than really loved.
