Bailey Crawly (baileycrawly) | 8 comments I'm just reading the dark tower for the firs time, I'm 44% through the second book. Now, I'm buying the eBooks off and on as I get the money, but I need to know: should a new reader read The Wind Through the Keyhole in its proper place in the series (after Wizard and Glass), or should I read that one at the end as it's the last published? Is there anything in WTtK that a reader won't appreciate without first reading all seven other books?

Greg (popzeus) I'd say it doesn't really matter. I preferred reading it as a standalone after finishing the series and feel it may have interrupted the flow of the main story if read in proper order. Just my opinion, of course.

ElleEm | 260 comments I read somewhere that on your first time through to read them in order of publication and if you reread then read them in chronological order. I can't remember the source so I can't post a link.

I agree with this having read them all numerous times.

Bailey Crawly (baileycrawly) | 8 comments Ok sounds good, I'll save it for last! I also didn't read the little sisters of Eluria yet, I think I'll just pick up everything's eventual for after book 7

C.J. Mendoza (cjoseph17) | 11 comments I found that reading Wind Through the Keyhole after the last novel worked much like how the Hobbit movie brought nostalgia from the Lord of the Rings movies. In other words, it worked perfectly fine

mrbooks | 1469 comments The first time I read it I read it after I finished the DT series, the second time I put it in where it was recommended. Either way it works.

Laura | 23 comments I read it between book 4 and 5 and it did not work well for me. I was waiting for the overall story to continue after going back in time so it was no fun to have to plough through this first. So definitely recommend reading it somewhere at the end.
