POSTING Rules:

See HOW to Post Your Book Category for specialized instructions, if you don't know who to do this.

1. Create a new topic
2. Type in your books name in the Topic, and select from list.

Include the following information.
a: Price:
b: # of pages:
c: Amazon Link:
d: Blurb:

THE RULES

1. The first 12 people to sign up become the "established group of the cell".
2. Members should private message (PM) each other to gain email addresses or other contact information.
3. All participating members are required to purchase all books in the "cell".
4. Price limit is on books is $1.99. The author can gift their book if the price is higher than this or they can lower the price via an Amazon Promotion.
5 Reviews of less than 3 stars are to be delivered directly to the author instead of posting. (This is more to provide the author critical feedback, rather than destroying an author's rating.)
6. Reviews on posted on both Amazon and Goodreads (and Smashwords, if applicable).
7. Play nice and treat each other fairly.
8. As each cell is formed, the new members of the cell are responsible for administering the self=contained group.
9. If there are issues, PM the Moderator directly to review the situation.

Virginia Arthur Guess I am posting the first Literary (Short Lit Fiction/Humor).

I am assuming authors cannot vote for their own books. By posting your work, you are voting for your own book anyway but you cannot select your own book when we pick one because, hey, it won't work, this thing we are trying to do.

Phat's Chance for Buddha in Houston (Or How I Spent My Summer Vacation).

$2.99 and sorry, I cannot do the minimum price. I think $1.99 is too low. We need our books to be purchased for reviews to be posted and $1.99 is too low. Under $5.00 should be the rule or let the cells figure it out themselves.
Short Fiction; like 75 pages
Includes cussing/no sex (Rated R--refs to sex/sexuality but no sex)
https://www.amazon.com/Phat-Chance-Bu...

Description:
It's what you have been wondering for years! Just how many Buddhist monks CAN you fit into a 1970 Buick Electra 225 convertible?

It's 1990 and just another typical summer day in Mapletown, Indiana until Uncle Phat, The Reptile (or Uncle Mike, as he used to be called), wanders into the garage and gives his puberty-stricken 15 year old nephew, Galen Calcoun, only about an hour to pack. The four of them, a squinting Uncle Phat, his beloved Ruby--a 1970 ruby red white-top convertible Buick Electra 225, Galen, and "the three books about Buddhism" that take their place in the middle of the front seat, are headed to Houston, Texas to "look at an engine" for Ruby. They leave a note for the family and with ZZ Top blaring, take to the road.

Both are escaping not only the monotony of their town but also the tyranny of the "cousins" who by sheer numbers alone, wield chaos-based control over the entire clan, the brunt of which is borne by Uncle Phat though Galen is tiring of it too, even if he doesn't know it--yet. "Intellectuals in a sea of morons" is how Galen views it ten years later as narrator, recounting their trip that includes lessons in French history from Vincennes (Indiana) and Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Of course they have to make a stop at Mark Twain National Forest. After a foray in a casino bar on a boat in Shreveport, LA, they have a run-in with a bunch of gun-totin' nature lovers on ATV's in Louisiana. It could go horribly wrong but thankfully Galen gets a stomachache.

Their "irresponsible" behavior is buffered by the people they meet on the trip that despite their antics, see the better side, invite them in, befriend them. The point of the trip was what again? Oh yea, getting to Houston to look at that engine for Ruby except...All the while, they are badgered by the family to stay in touch so they can get yelled at, chastised some more, bashed for acting "irresponsible". Starting with the first lie, the trip is predicated on more lies and when it ends, only one of them returns home to Indiana. Wow is now.

Influences: J.D. Salinger, John Irving, Tom Robbins, many others.
Thank you.

Hi Virginia,

I re-posted this book as it's own topic.

Voting on yourself wouldn't make sense in this case. We're building a cell of 12 books / 12 readers. You are indeed correct that by adding your book to the cell this IS a vote for said book, as it's now added to the group. Everyone is required to purchase, read / critique / and review all the books in the given cell within a time frame.

Also, I think the $1.99 prices was mostly arbitrary. I will leave your price and we'll see what the market with bear.

Virginia, I don't think this is a voting group. We all agree to purchase the books in the cell, and then write a review. If I had to pay $5.00 for each book x 11 = $55.00, and being on soc security, that is a bit much for me.

Virginia Arthur WHAT? We agree to purchase ALL the books? Mercy, I cannot do that either. I thought we post 12 books then VOTE on ONE to purchase? I mean, I could fork out up to $5 for one book but ALL OF THEM?

Then the ones that don't get chosen recycle back into the cell the next time. I am obviously confused how this is going to work but if it requires me to buy 12 books, some that I really don't want to even read, then I guess I need to bail out. I thought we vote then recycle the "losers" into the next "cell". I kind of like this better, don't you Cynthia? Others?

Virginia, we are doing this as well, however the "cells" group is a separate entity.

Virginia, I don't mind purchasing all the books in the cell I enter/join providing the price is in the guidelines. Since I already belong to a cell and have purchased the books and will be reviewing each one, I'll stay in that cell. At $0.99 to $1.99 I can afford to do that. Also, my books were already on a price promo for Mother's Day, so the founder's cell was a good fit.
