Alrighty, I am getting near the end of Sole Survivor now :-) Will be going toward The Darkest Evening of the Year soon.

Elsa is the newest furry addition to the Koontz Family :-)

I am currently reading The Darkest Evening of the Year. Having recently read Dark Rivers of the Heart, Sole Survivor and currently reading The Silent Corner - I'm not sure The Darkest Evening of the Year can measure up. It seems extremely focused on Golden Retrievers & Child Abuse.

Fred wrote: "It starts quick with Amy (main character) & Brian (her friend) saving a Golden Retriever, Nickie for $2,000. Then pasts are complex, Amy (main character) with Micheal -and- Brian with Moongirl. Agree?"
Yes. I think Amy's past is the most mysterious.

I am waiting for an audiobook of Intensity from the library. I'll be finishing The Darkest Evening of the Year this weekend.
Have you not read The Darkest Evening of The Year before?

Yes I read it but don't remember too much about it. I was teasing Fred only it didn't quite come across that way and I apologize.
Here is a spoiler for you if you dare to click, Karen B. :-) (view spoiler)
Lots of focus on patterns in The Darkest Evening of the Year.

Interesting that eyes and lighthouses come up as a reoccurring element to this story. I used to love lighthouses but I switched to windmills after reading Cold Fire by Dean Koontz.

That is true, now that I think of it. I am always looking for connections and that is one reason Dean's writing appeals to me so much - everything is connected.
Consider these Dean Koontz titles which are associated with eyes in the title alone:
The Eyes of Darkness
The Face of Fear
The Vision
The Mask
Twilight Eyes
Watchers
Dragon Tears
From the Corner of His Eye
The Face

Weird, Mormons have been mentioned in our three most recent group read selections including: The Darkest Evening of the Year, Sole Survivor and Dark Rivers of the Heart.
I gave The Darkest Evening of the Year a generous 3 star rating. I probably should change it to 2 stars, but I really don't like to do that to my pal Dean.

I'm still reading it but yes they are.

I agree, Moongirl and Harrow are creepy but mostly I'm finding this book quite boring. Sorry, Dean Koontz was once of the first authors I really started to enjoy way back when but this book is just not cutting it.
I agree. I think I need to lower my rating of The Darkest Evening of the Year to 2 stars.
Read The Silent Corner, you'll like it.

Keep in mind, Dean has a new release, The Silent Corner, which will also be featured June 20th - July as a Group Read.
Please consider reading along with us!
Thank You!
