Matt Posner (mattposner) | 276 comments That troubled me initially when I saw it, but now I just ignore it. It's probably automated. I don't really worry that any used copies of my book are floating around, unless street urchins in New Delhi are wiping their asses with remaindered copies of the Vitasta/Times of India Books editions.

K.A. Jordan (kajordan) | 3042 comments I freaked out when I saw the price on my 'used' books.

I decided it was somebody who lived close to the POD printers - they'd get their copy at cost and charge some poor fool a fortune for it.

Daniel Roberts (daniel-a-roberts) | 467 comments It's a numbers game. A percentage of folks, when they visit the same page by the millions every day, will opt to pay through the 'other' options.

Used books 'like new condition' plays on the thought that somebody else liked it, bought it, wants to sell it for what they think is a superior value because it's 'worth' it.

A sucker born every day...

None of your books are used. It's exactly what you think it is. A scam to sell one of your titles to a sucker at a much higher price. Remember, it's the 'Wholesale' model Amazon deals with, not the Agency model. If an evil merchant wants to overcharge, they can change the price however high they see fit.
