What book do you think should be made into a movie? Are there any titles you think would make an excellent film?

A few years ago I enjoyed an audiobook called Ghost in the Wires: My Adventures as the World's Most Wanted Hacker by Kevin Mitnick. As far as I know, his life story has not been made into a movie, but I think it would make a great crime thriller. I often like watching movies based on real people and events that make me feel like I'm learning something of historical significance.
He would be the epitome of an anti-hero, the kind of main character you root for, even though you know what he's doing is so wrong! (He now helps companies protect themselves from hackers like him by exposing weaknesses in their security protocols, so there is a redeeming end to his story.)

When I hear you describe Kevin Mitnick's story, it kind of reminds me of the movie Catch Me if you Can. That is the Leonardo DiCaprio movie about a con artist (based on the real person Frank Abangale) that impersonates other professions. I think he ends up working for the FBI helping them catch people doing the same thing he did. It was also based on a book.

Yes, Ghost in the Wires is a very similar story but with a high tech twist! I liked the movie about Frank Abagnale too, but have not read the book. Has anyone else?

Angela Guest | 3 comments There are a lot of books I think would be great movies but very few that I think Hollywood would do well. Graceling by Kristin Cashore is a book with action and romance and all the stuff Hollywood loves. Plus the themes are so thickly laced that there is no possible way for them to hide them... then again this is Hollywood. Over all I would just love to see this story visually.

Heather Pearson (heatherpearson) | 53 comments i'd like to see The Mystery of Grace by Charles de Lint made into a movie. It's a true love story with a twist, Grace is already dead when she meets the love of her life. They come from very different walks of life, two people that probably would never have met, yet when they do, they click instantly. It's only later that John learns that Grace died before he met her, yet he is determined to find a way to see her again.
The two main locations where this book is set would provide challenges to the film makers. One is the live, current world, but the second, the dead one where Grace lives is composed of buildings and people from times spanning back to WW2.
