Samantha-j Luton | 2 comments I'm an MA Publishing student at the University of Derby researching into fantasy fiction brands and how to make them better for fans in the future.

I was wondering if you could take 10 minutes to complete a questionnaire that will help with my research and hopefully improve the quality of fantasy fiction in the future.

This is the link below that can be copied and pasted into your URL or clicked on:

Your responses would be greatly appreciated and really help out a student and fellow fantasy lover! :-)

Thanks for your time!

Kind regards,
Sammy

I dislike the requirement for 5 fantasy genres. I had to pick stuff I don't really read.

I had the opposite problem. I could easily pic 7 or 8 and had trouble limiting myself to 5.

Also, favorite of the 5 is hard to pick, because I vacillate.

This, too.

Also, the way I get recs is via reading reviews (which I don't consider "social media") - unless you consider all review reading online social media.

I don't use: twitter, facebook, instagram, etc for any book reason at all (except to post pics of books I've completed reading).

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I sort of counted goodreads as social media. That's how I get most of my recs and hear about new things.

I was thinking that first - but then I remembered that there is a LOT of shilling, etc on those instasocialmediafacebookingphotos stuff. Like, a lot. I don't use them but people go full RAGE online with that stuff.

I don't even do the book think on Instagram (Bookstagram) cause I don't want to get shilled at. I AM following a sweet Collectable Fantasy seller - but that's totally to get book cover porn.

Samantha-j Luton | 2 comments Its interesting to see how different people have reacted to the 5 genre question. There was a lot of fluctuation in both personal interests and limit satisfaction! So far I am still 120 participants short of my target so if you could potentially spread the word about this survey to other fantasy fans I'd be extremely greatful! Otherwise thank you both very much for completing the survey! :)

Claire | 12 comments I was a little surprised to realize I'm more familiar with scifi publishers than fantasy publishers, even though I read more fantasy
