Carol Ann | 12 comments I just finished the series and I'm in a book rut. I LOVE the night huntress series and Immortals after dark....recommendations????

message 2: by Kim (new)

Kim | 134 comments Did you read KMM's Highlander series? I assume so, but you never know until you ask. :)

message 3: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments Actually I haven't read those yet! I was weary to read dani's series in fever or the highlanders books because I didn't want to be disappointed. If you recommend then though, I'll give them a shot :) thanks!

message 4: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) Have you read any of the following:

Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian
Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews

message 5: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments I haven't read any of those! I'll check them out! :)

message 6: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellystud) | 9 comments Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward is really good. I loved the fever series as well. I can't wait till more come out.

message 7: by Kim (new)

Kim | 134 comments I loved the Highlander series and there is crossover with the Fever series. I think the first couple were more straight-up historicals, but then they become more supernatural in nature when the fey come into play.

message 8: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments I read a few books of the black dagger brotherhood and lovedddd Zsadist!!!

message 9: by Kim (new)

Kim | 134 comments I'm also a huge fan of Nalini Singh, both her Psy-Changeling series and the Guild Hinter books.

message 10: by Kim (new)

Kim | 134 comments *Guild Hunter that is...

I love Zsadist too. I just posted on a different thread about that book.

message 12: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments I read the first book of the guild hunter series and thought it was pretty good. I've been thinking about reading the psy series but the cover always throws me off haha

message 13: by Kim (new)

Kim | 134 comments Yeah, ignore the covers of the first few. I almost didn't read them because of that, but I would have missed out!

Jenny | 39 comments The Guild Hunter series is really good. The other series I really loved was Karen Chance's
Cassie Palmer
Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance Claimed By Shadow (Cassandra Palmer, #2) by Karen Chance Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance Curse the Dawn (Cassandra Palmer, #4) by Karen Chance Hunt the Moon (Cassandra Palmer, #5) by Karen Chance Tempt the Stars (Cassandra Palmer, #6) by Karen Chance and
Dorina Basarb
Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab, #1) by Karen Chance Death's Mistress (Dorina Basarab, #2) by Karen Chance Fury's Kiss (Dorina Basarab, #3) by Karen Chance

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments Karen Marie Moning's Highlanders stories are very different from the Fever series. More traditional romance, one sex partner per character, and each book can stand alone even though there are connections among the characters. I loved them. I love Jericho Barrons, too, but found the Highlanders easier on the emotions.

If you can get the audiobooks for this series, you'll just LOVE Phil Gigante's Scottish!!

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) Anya Bast's Dark Magick series is excellent. More fae focused

Wicked Enchantment (Dark Magick, #1) by Anya Bast Cruel Enchantment (Dark Magick, #2) by Anya Bast Dark Enchantment (Dark Magick, #3) by Anya Bast Midnight Enchantment (Dark Magick, #4) by Anya Bast

message 21: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments I've actually read into the darkness and thought it was so funny and I really liked shadows claim! I read poison princess too and though it was pretty good!

Chocolatesoup | 43 comments I'm new to the Elder series by Thea Harrison but I'm all in ;-) Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison and if you're up for steam punk/vampires check out Kiss of Steel (London Steampunk, #1) by Bec McMaster

message 23: by Teen (new)

Teen | 41 comments I have never read a KMM book and have read countless comments on the Fever series. Are all the books out for this series? is each a stand-alone? Do you recommend one of her other series over Fever?

message 24: by Kim (new)

Kim | 134 comments Teen, the Fever series books are not stand alone. You have to read them in order.

KMM does some exposition in Iced, but in order to really understand what's happening I think you need to have read the Fever series first.

The Highlander series can be read in any order although you may see references to couples from previous books. Those are more standard romance books, if you will. I read them while I was waiting for the 4th Fever book to come out. While I don't think you have to read them before reading Fever, doing so will add some "aha" moments. But as far as following the story, I managed just fine reading them in the order that I did.

message 25: by Teen (new)

Teen | 41 comments Thanks, Kim!! :)

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments KMM's Highlanders are delicious. I might be on the verge of a re-read.

message 27: by Vanessa Eden (new)

Vanessa Eden Patton (vanessaeden) | 21 comments Look into Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon . Its a big series but so worth it! You will be wondering what to read after that series because nothing can compare to James Fraser!
Its a time travel romance and is absolutely amazing. If you liked KMM's books and loved Braveheart, then this is the series for you! Don't let the size of the books scare you because once you start, you cannot stop!

message 28: by Katya (new)

Katya | 327 comments There is nothing after KMM's Fever Series....NOTHING. LOL

that's because you haven't read Outlander yet lol. There is even a tv show coming out on Starz!

Yes I have to agree. Though completely different types of books both the Outlander series and the Fever series have something in common I feel in that they are both top of their genre and I can find nothing else that compares to either of them!

Though there's lots of Urban fantasy/paranormal books out there I've never found anything else quite like the Fever series.
If you haven't read book 6 'Iced' yet then I'd highly recommend it. I found it just as great.
Karen's Highlander books are nothing in tone or feel like the Fever books. They are romances and lighter weight, certainly not as gritty or dark. That's not to say they're not good in their own way but they are very different and I wouldn't say a replacement for Fever as they are a completely separate genre.
However...if you're on KMM and Fever withdrawals ... Lol.

message 31: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments Thanks Natalie! I'll definitely give it a try!! I read one of the highlander books and while it was decent, it was nothing like fever haha. I'm going to give iced a try as well and hope it doesn't disappoint! :)

message 32: by ✿ Natalie ✿ (new)

✿ Natalie ✿ | 428 comments As Fever is Dark Urban Fantasy, do you like Dark Fantasy?
If so I'd recommend the book Sebastian by Anne Bishop Sebastian (Ephemera, #1) by Anne Bishop . Though set in another world (rather than a world blending into our own like in Fever) it has some similar 'feel' - dark, romantic element etc - to it I felt.

message 33: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments I'll totally look into it! Thanks for the help! :)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) I love the books you love - so I think you would like the Succubus Series by Richelle Mead. Six books - completed series.

message 35: by Carol Ann (new)

Carol Ann | 12 comments I am IN LOVE with the succubus series by Richelle mead!! It's definitely a close second to the fever series for me!!
