I really enjoyed this story- like Kafka with an actually good sense of humour :p

To those of you with office jobs, is a non-surreal version of this a reflection of your workplace? (Mine does not contain "characters", it contains Norwegians.)

Kind of... I have a co-worker who likes lizards so she has lizard knickknacks and ornaments, but it's not quite as exaggerated as PEN GWEN. And it's hard for them to let people go where I work, so that breeds its own minority of abusers.

I can see the Norwegians giving you an orientation like this, no?

Fun story--thanks for posting!

This story was a lot of fun for me too :) I wish the Norwegians made it clear how weird they were!

Apart from tonight when they were all very lovely.

But this is perfect first day on new job weirdness fun a la Saunders thought I :-) :-)
