Years ago, Rachel had a crush on Henry Jones. The day before she moved away, she tucked a love letter into his favorite book in his family’s bookshop. She waited. But Henry never came.

Now Rachel has returned to the city—and to the bookshop—to work alongside the boy she’d rather not see, if at all possible, for the rest of her life. But Rachel needs the distraction, and the escape. Her brother drowned months ago, and she can’t feel anything anymore. She can’t see her future.

Henry’s future isn’t looking too promising, either. His girlfriend dumped him. The bookstore is slipping away. And his family is breaking apart.

As Henry and Rachel work side by side—surrounded by books, watching love stories unfold, exchanging letters between the pages—they find hope in each other. Because life may be uncontrollable, even unbearable sometimes. But it’s possible that words, and love, and second chances are enough.

OK I'm starting this early, but I'm starting it now :-) it fit some of my challenges :-)

At 50% Rachel (view spoiler)[ first off I am in absolute LOVE with this book, Rachel is pulling at my heartstrings, I understand why she was embarrassed when it came to Henry especially at that age, and I understand her reaction to her brothers death, hard thing to come back from, glad she is starting to share her feelings (hide spoiler)]

At 50% Henry(view spoiler)[ OK is he seriously this obsessed with Amy? Let it go! I can see why Rachel would be annoyed with his letters, anybody would be, even if they weren't crushing on the person! Not sure if he even deserves Rachel? (hide spoiler)]

At 50% George(view spoiler)[ I think George has major defenses up, if she rejects people before they can reject her she won't hurt? But then she is lonely, I so hope Martin is the mystery boy :-) (hide spoiler)]

Loved it the end(view spoiler)[ this book was so beautifully written, I loved the letter library, I love the characters, not sure if Henry deserves Rachel, but he does deserve a happy ending, just perfect! (hide spoiler)]

The ending was better than the rest of the book but that's saying much because I kind of hated the rest of it. I didn't connect with it at all.

finished (view spoiler)[ Okay, it was so shitty of Amy to hide Rachel's letter from Henry and I hate her. But Henry still sucks for getting back together with Amy in the first place and a little bit for selling the bookstore. I am glad they worked it out, but I still think she could do better.
The letters throughout this were great, I love that George gets those pieces of Cal to hold on to. (hide spoiler)]
