Last August I set myself the task of reading all of the Very Short Introduction books. I've got about 70 of them under my belt so far. The only other person I've come across who's worked through any significant number of them is Kathryn Schulz, who wrote an article about them in the New Yorker. ( https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/20... ).
So, I was fascinated to find this reading group. As Stockton is about three hundred miles away it's not really on to come up for a meeting, but I'd love to hear what sort of things you discuss about the VSI's. It doesn't look like there's been a lot of action in the online group so far.

Thanks for the comment and the New Yorker link – I hadn’t seen that before. A very noble challenge and an impressive 70 so far. With 5 on our shelf we’ve got some ground to make up!
It’s been a little on the quite side here but we’re starting to gather a bit of momentum with the “in real life” group. We’re meeting up tomorrow evening so I’ll post a (Very Short!) summary of what we thought about Journalism. Should be an interesting one.

Hi All- I found this book after having read the New Yorker article and thinking it might be fun to try to read all the VSI books. I've tracked down the Astrobiology book and am getting ready to join the conversation. Curious though, how do the books get chosen for future reads?

Welcome to the virtual part of the group. It's great to have another voice on here. It's also fantastic to find someone else tackling the challenge of trying to read all the VSIs. I'm up to 104 now and have found it a fascinating adventure so far. It's certainly giving me new ways of looking at the world. Please keep reporting in to us on how you find the journey. I love the idea of the jump from Astrobiology to Fairy Tales!
