As I have read Fahrenheit 451, which looks like it is going to win, my three for the challenge will be:
Rule 34
Around the Coast in Eighty Waves
Cleopatra's Needle: Two Wheels by the Water to Cairo

Ah, so if we've read the poll winner, we can choose another one?

My list will be...

For Fukui's Sake: Two Years In Rural Japan
Fahrenheit 451
How to Bake Pi: An Edible Exploration of the Mathematics of Mathematics
And adding...
Thirteen Reasons Why
Also adding...
The Fundamental Five (a book for work--forced reading but I'll count it here to make me feel better about it)

I've been meaning to read the Ray Bradbury one too, so I'll be reading:

Fahrenheit 451
One Hundred Years of Solitude
The Tenth Man

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll need something to replace Farenheit 451 too.

Does something with "First" in the title count or is that pushing it?

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments One read. One arrived from library and one on Kindle( since 2014, embarrassed.com)
1. Chameleon 2012. A terrible book but it served a duel purpose as book club book. No one liked it. READ
2. Fahrenheit 451 - arrived from library
3. Just a little run round the world: 5 years, 3 packs of wolves and 53 pairs of shoes- Kindle.

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Fahrenheit book. How did I never read this. Wonderful, if slightly scary book. Have been off internet so much since....

message 17: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Done. All 3. That's 2 challenges completed this year. 3 if you count how many books I intended to read. I aimed low though so no great shakes. Must be a first for me though. Now onto reading books of the month which I have been slacking badly on.

I am reading my last one at the moment Around the Coast in Eighty Waves

message 21: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 161 comments Finished Fahrenheit 451 the other day, that was my third. Haven't got round to thinking about a review yet.

I really enjoyed 1984.

In One Person was only OK, but did also count as I for my alphabet.

Ruth | 28 comments Hi all,
Just want to add in 3 books i have read in this time space.
I have to say I was dreading Slaughterhouse-Five, but it surprised me and I loved it ! A very different sort of book and parts of it made me giggle out loud, which is rare for me !
I read it on 19th Aug.
The next book The Fifties in Pictures was an interesting book. Read it on 6th Sept.
And the final book in this challenge was Fifty Fashion Looks that Changed the 1980's. Read 15th Sept. I have read the 5 books in this series and they are great.

Thank you Paul. Will also change my One Hundred Years of Solitude selection to Slaughterhouse Five as I've had it on my kindle for 2 years!

message 30: by Paul (new)

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
One Hundred Years of Solitude is just awful.

message 31: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Thanks Paul you're the only person that thinks that apart from me. Excellent but so boring!

message 32: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 492 comments Mod
Well I'll read it sometime, I enjoyed Love in the Time of Cholera. I just want to get the Slaughterhouse Five out of the way first.

message 33: by Paul (new)

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
It is probably just me. I have a friend who loves it. For me, it was dull, confusing and oh so tedious. Love in the Time of Cholera sounds like a barrel of laughs too

message 34: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments It was Paul.
