Please note that we will not be meeting in August. The discussion for Blood Hound by James Osiris Baldwin will be happening all month long on this discussion thread.

Please share your thoughts and opinions while reading the book here.

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) O-M-G: (view spoiler) Please tell me someone else is just as disturbed as I am over this, lol.

That just made my entire body cringe.

I'm curious to know who all has read or is reading the book? If you're reading it, how are you liking it?

I have read it AND hilarious thing, the author commented on my original review "what.the.hell?" ha ha ha. I appreciated certain aspects but overall felt that the scope of the book was too broad and it was confusing at points. I wish the magical system had been better explained better.

I finished it already. I wasn't the biggest fan. I thought it was really dark. The transitions between scenes were poorly explained and I feel like you needed a broad understanding of occult magic going into these books. The author assumed you were already familiar with the genre and didn't explain many things.

I also struggled with the foreign phrases through out the book many of them were never translated. I think there an interesting idea here, I'm just not sure it was executed as well as it could have been.

I read your review and his response. My copy doesn't have the glossary or Russian terms. That would definitely have helped. If there aren't enough context clues, terms I don't know can give me pause and cause the flow of the story to stop. I'm not a fan of that.

What did you all think of Alexi?

I agree with you. I never like glossaries. I feel that the subject should be able to be explained in the story itself. Alexi was an interesting character for this story but I can't say I care enough about him to want to continue reading. He just lacked the draw for me.

I also feel that this story tried to incorporate too much. I think if the author had written the book about mafia and left out the whole occult fantasy element that it would have been better. Or a story that incorporated the whole fantasy/religion aspect but left out the Mafia. It was like he was going for a trifecta but I think it was just too much.

Alexi seemed more a victim of circumstance in many instances. It seemed more things just happened to him. I don't understand his motivation for staying with the Mafia or choosing the lifestyle he has. He's so over manipulated.

Absolutely agree. I would have been like "F" this. He could have left, I don't think it would have really mattered.

Jim (therapon24601) | 183 comments I'm on book 4 in the series and on the audio books I found it annoying that the narrator couldn't keep everyone's voices the same between the same books.

Other than that I really love the series and thought it was well done and quite funny. Martin is probably my favorite character.

My favorite line was from book 2 when Gwen was arguing with the murderer and Martin thought "when arguing with an idiot, the idiot has the advantage because the idiot naturally thinks that way and the smart person has to translate their logic down to the idiot level.

I have laughed out loud so many times in this series. I lost count.
Trying to wrap my head around the whole Brit the Younger and Brit the Elder thing was frustrating at first but then seeing how all the other characters struggle with it has made it quite funny.

I absolutely love the Magic 2.0 series. Book 1 is Off to Be the Wizard.

oh no, I did and I am still wondering how your comments have to do with the book Blood Hound. There is no Martin, Gwen, Brit anyone in this book. lol Or in any of the other books.

So make it very plain for me because I am confused why you are talking about a book by Scott Meyer on this thread? :D

I figure I must be missing something and I can be for sure, brain function a little low tonight. ha ha ha
