Andrew Finazzo (johnyqd) | 343 comments I haven't read many books lately and I'm hoping this will be a novel that clips along at a good pace.

I don't have many expectations going in. The last novel I read that touched (not as directly) on the impact of drug cartels was the amazing 2666. There have also been some great movies I've seen in the last few years like Sicario and The Infiltrator.

I hope we'll revisit the epigraph in our section questions later, I'm presuming violence will be a central theme.

The covers aren't great, I don't think I'd have picked this up if I hadn't ran into some rave reviews about the sequel and backpedaled my way here.

Off we go!

Michelle Finazzo | 281 comments I don't know much about this book pre-read. My hubby picked it and I'm extremely excited to start a new book club book. The topic is quite different from what I have been reading of late. The author is a new one for me. I have the first cover listed (orange SWAT-type guy) and it fills me with a bit of dread.

I read the Rudyard Kipling Poem The Power of The Dog and my guess is that it may also be relevant to the story.

Who is Sue Ribinsky? On a cursory Google search I came up with blanks.
