Although adaptations can still be hit or miss, is there anything you've read you'd like to see adapted into a TV show or movie?

Anything you've watched recently that you think has done the book justice?

S.J. Cairns (samijocairns) | 7 comments I think The Strain was done well - Trilogy by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The books gave me nightmares (uncommon, but they did) and the show leaves a lingering presence. The characters translated well from page to screen.

Totally with you! Love the show version more as it's less horrifying, to be honest :)

Zee Monodee (zee_monodee) | 10 comments I think Me Before You was very well done from book to big screen - not much 'lost in translation' in there (though the trailer already gave you 80% of the good parts of the movie!)

The Devil Wears Prada - almost completely different from the book, because they gave it a happy ending which wasn't the same in the story.

Gone Girl - maybe the best adaptation of all!

M.C. Muhlenkamp (melissamuhlenkamp) | 7 comments @Zee Monodee you are so right! One of the reasons it took me forever to watch that movie was the fact that the trailer gave me everything there was to know. A well done movie all in all.

Loved Sam Claflin in there, and of course, I cried at the end!

Have you read the followup book, After You? It was even better than Me Before You

Vania Rheault | 3 comments 50 Shades is my guilty pleasure. I couldn't even get through the first quarter of the first book, but I loved the movies so far. Or maybe it's just Jamie Dornan. :)

I've yet to see the movies, but the books were an okay read. Not well-written (IMO), but a good read. I liked his story, though found Ana kind of annoying. Thanks for the reminder that I need to see the movies. :-)

Ken Magee | 2 comments For me, the Game of Thrones TV adaptation is a lot more exciting than the books. I'm maybe a little biased because I live in Northern Ireland where a lot of the series was filmed.

I enjoy the detail of the books, but the TV show has been a lot of fun to watch.

Trisha (meraanam) I've read books 1 - 3 of the Mortal Instruments series (working on a re-read so i can read the last 3 books), but I am loving the Netflix TV series, even though it's not the most brilliant acting I've ever seen, etc. It does play around with the book plot a lot, but I'm still thoroughly addicted!

I thought the TV series got it much better than the 1 movie, too. More depth and they went farther with the storyline. Jace is also a total babe, LOL

Trisha (meraanam) Agreed, Zee! I am currently slightly addicted to the whole #MALEC storyline. Talk about swoonage! But yes, Jace is a hottie too ;) Love to watch those boys. :P

Ken Magee | 2 comments I've yet to find anyone who agrees with what I'm about to say... Battlefield Earth was a classic sci-fi adventure and the movie was a great adaptation... there, I said it.

Total swoonage fest in there, I agree! Those boys are delicious. If only Clary weren't so annoying...but then again, you can't have it all, LOL!

Haha, she does have her annoying moments - but I can forgive her because I'm too busy enjoying the man candy to worry too much :P I do like some of her more recent scenes where she gets all badass in battle though.

Sorry Ken, I can't agree at all with you lol. But each to their own, right?

Dean Italiano (deanitaliano) | 6 comments I'm generally not a fan of films after the book, but Harry Potter was well done. Horns started off promising, not sure about the end, maybe I'll watch it again. Looking forward to Wonder, which I'm almost done reading. Perhaps one I enjoyed the most was The BFG, but when you start with such a charming story how can you go wrong? :)
