Haughty, aloof, classically cool ─ that's the image Hanna has exuded ever since she could remember, ever since her parents told her that the Seong family had a reputation to uphold. Sure, she plays her part well but that doesn't mean she's happy to comply with it. She wants to act like a normal teenager, wants to don the role of a normal college student. Instead, she keeps her meme accounts far away from the reality she has to endure and keeps her chin tilted like she should. Is it ideal, being forced into a mold that looks nice but it far more restraining? Hell no, but Hanna does it because she can't stand the thought of upsetting her parents and throwing everything they've done for her back in their faces. Which, spoiler alert, really doesn't amount to much.
Hanna Seong was not raised by her mom nor was she raised by her dad. Like most other outrageously affluent couples, they passed their kid off to nannies and butlers and that was that. They did, however, pay for her tuition and her designer clothes and her cherry red sportscar... And that's where this inability to turn her back on them comes from. She wants to make them proud, but at the same time she despises that she can't be herself. So maybe she doesn't owe them anything; maybe they should be the ones to step up and actually try to understand her. But that won't happen, and that means that Hanna will go on doing what she's doing even if the lie is slowly eating away at her.──── family ;
