Dog Days of Summer
Duration: August 1 to 31

The days from July 3 to August 11 are called the dog days of summer. These are some of the hottest days in the Northern Hemisphere. To the ancient Greeks and Romans, the dog days occurred when Sirius, the dog star, appeared to rise just before the sun. They believed that the combined heat of the dog star and the sun caused the hot, sultry weather.

We were thinking medium as in channel to the spirit world (séances, Ouija boards, etc.). Like the Family Fortune mysteries by Dawn Eastman or Whispers Beyond the Veil by Jessica Estevao. I can see how that's confusing. Since these also fit the other descriptions, I'll edit it.

Sharon PLB (sharonlpb) | 234 comments I read my serial books first. Since I'm reading Agatha Raisin, I think one will count as my non-US northern hemisphere book. But I also just finished Carolyn Hart's What the Cat Saw. The main character can read cats' minds. Does that count as psychic? (I picked it for someplace hot - Oklahoma, where it was over 100F a couple of weeks ago when I was there for my neice's wedding - but the book is set during the winter.)

Gary Sundell | 794 comments I used the first of my serial reads for the sky cover book. I will be reading Where Eagles Dare for my non US northern hemisphere book.
