Is it okay to post books which fall under the Alternate History category?

Suzy (hikergirl66) | 12 comments I have edited and published a 7 book series, "The 4th Reich " by Patrick Laughy. In my opinion it is an interesting and informative account of the rise and fall of WWll and Hitler's Germany. The book is factually correct, and the fictional family whose lives are threaded through the book make it a compelling read. The family's story also allows a glimpse into the new world of modern times, post WWl.
Patrick has also written murder mysteries and a fantasy series and is now working on a book about the making of a serial killer.

Kimberly Fish | 9 comments Thanks for this option, Rick. For those that like historical fiction set on the American home front, I've written a novel that is centered a game-changing pipe line project that shipped massive amounts of oil to the troops fighting in Europe. It was one of those crazy, big war ideas that worked. The book is on Amazon and is available on Kindle for e-readers too.

Christoph Fromm | 1 comments Hello fellow readers and writers!
If you are a fan of war novels and want to delve into the merciless, psychological strain of the deciding battle of Stalingrad, I’d like to introduce you to my novel “Stalingrad: The Loneliest Death.”

A short synopsis may spark your interest:
September 1942. The few surviving assault pioneers of a battalion deployed in North Africa are drafted to the eastern front. In the course of the deciding battle of Stalingrad, which claimed two million victims, moral principles are of secondary importance: trench war, close combat, hunger and cold, madness as a last resort before death...
Young lieutenant Hans von Wetzland is forced to accept that he cannot possibly keep up even the most basic moral standards. Neither his men’s nor his own.

This historical fiction is based on extensive research and numerous interviews with contemporary witnesses. Its unique focus on the characters’ emotional struggles provides a grim insight into the cruelties on the battlefield and makes this novel a searing indictment against all wars.

In case you are not already hooked, there is also an excerpt available for you to read through.
If you are interested in getting to know me as a writer, you can read through an interview regarding “Stalingrad: The Loneliest Death” on my blog or you can send me any questions you have concerning my writing process, etc.

Happy reading and writing!
Christoph Fromm

Not silly at all, I've been wondering the same thing. Don't know.

I don't think you can swap or sell ebooks, but sometimes you can loan them. It depends on the book's settings (set by the publisher). For kindle books, you can go to your list of books on amazon.com (under "content and devices"). There's a column titled "actions." If you click on the button with the dots, it will show you options. Depending on the book's settings, "Loan this title" might be an option. You just need the recipient's email address.

Another option is adding someone to your household account, and then you can share as much of your library as you want with them.

Liz V. (wwwgoodreadscomlizv) | 688 comments Not an answer but author Susan Wittig Albert posted today about a bogus offer of a free ebook version of one of her books not available in e-format. Goodreads responded.

Aside from piracy issues, Susan refers to the danger of malware.

You can swap, but both parties have to be prime members. So it will be a somewhat rare occurrence.

message 17: by Miss M (new)

Miss M | 196 comments You don’t need Prime, just both have Amazon accounts. It’s up to publishers if they participate in lending and most of the big ones opt out.
Technically we don’t buy ebooks, just a license for the books which restricts our ‘rights’ to what we can do with them.

Marc | 1746 comments Hi everyone:

I'm needing to downsize a bit and thus I am putting quite a few books up for sale. I will gladly ship anywhere in the world, but please note that shipping outside the United States (via UPS) will be pretty expensive. All books come from a home with no pets or smokers.

Please send me a message if you're interested in any of them and we can discuss price(s).
