August 1, Tuesday: Is there anything you'd like to see from our group, Paging All Bookworms?

message 2: by ilikeboox (new)

ilikeboox | 242 comments Well, I would love a "Like" button! That way we could acknowledge that we read and liked a post. I don't know if you have the option to add one as a Moderator or if you could just pass that on to the 'powers that be'.

August 2, Wednesday: What book would you love to see made into a movie? (If done correctly of course)

I've often thought that too. You could go to the Goodreads feedback group and suggest that.

August 4, Friday: Do you have weekend plans?

message 7: by ilikeboox (new)

ilikeboox | 242 comments Oh yes, hen party tonight! Pizza and sitting on the back porch. Finally, we have cool enough weather to do it!

Melissa (melissasd) | 948 comments Leah wrote: "August 4, Friday: Do you have weekend plans?"

Last night my husband and I met some friends at the local brewery for drinks. We had a lot of fun. Today I mowed the yard and need to go food shopping.

What a busy and fun weekend visiting with cousins and 2 aunts on Fri and then a 3 hour drive to see my husbands family on Sat. and drive home on Sunday. Always nice to spend time with family.

Monday, Aug 7: Are you allergic to anything?

message 12: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissasd) | 948 comments Book Concierge wrote: "Monday, Aug 7: Are you allergic to anything?"

I'm allergic to nickel. If it's in any of my jewelry I break out in a rash. I have to coat the back of my watch with clear nail polish to I can wear it.

I have to be careful with soaps and lotions, but no food or drug allergies.

ilikeboox | 242 comments Mostly foods, lots of them.

Yes, too much stress. Whenever there's more stress than usual, I break out in hives. :-(

August 10, Thursday: As we're right in the middle of summer (for the northern hemisphere) - what temperature range are you most comfortable in?

message 20: by Penelope (new)

Penelope Marzec (penelopemarzec) | 6 comments A temperature of 85 or above is too hot for me.

65F to 75F ... higher than that I start to feel hot / lower and I need a jacket. (But I'll still wear sandals down into the mid 50s ... )

70's and 80's.

How much is too much?

I prefer the temp to be around 75-80. It's the humidity that gets me the most here in the south!

message 28: by Penelope (new)

Penelope Marzec (penelopemarzec) | 6 comments I can't deal with humidity. We used to visit my in-laws in Florida every summer in August. The humidity and the temperature were unbearable!

August 11, Friday: Are you usually able to fall asleep quickly or do you toss and turn most nights?

message 30: by Mary (new)

Mary (bradleygirl) | 5 comments All of the nights, for most of my life, involve tossing and turning. I blame the recent uptick of this on thyroid meds though. Benadryl is my very very good friend, plus Kindle, plus white noise.

message 31: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissasd) | 948 comments Leah wrote: "August 11, Friday: Are you usually able to fall asleep quickly or do you toss and turn most nights?"

It depends on how my day went. Busy..I fall asleep pretty fast.

message 32: by ilikeboox (new)

ilikeboox | 242 comments Here's a trick for falling asleep: Pretend it's time to get up for work.

I'm a good sleeper ... always have been. Of course, occasionally there is some issue that has me worried and then I toss and turn. But those are - thankfully - rare.

Melissa (melissasd) | 948 comments Book Concierge wrote: "Saturday Aug 12 - Today is National Elephant Day, celebrating MY favorite animal. What's your favorite animal?"

I'm a huge fan of wolves and sharks.

message 36: by ilikeboox (new)

ilikeboox | 242 comments Lots of animals are wonderful: elephants, manatees, deer, pandas, nudibranchs (no 'e' for plural. Strange, huh?). But most of all I love my tuxedo cat!

Sheila | 532 comments Leah wrote: "August 11, Friday: Are you usually able to fall asleep quickly or do you toss and turn most nights?"

Rarely a problem. I'm asleep within 5 minutes. Of course, tonight, because I said that, I won't be able to sleep.

Don't know if I feel guilty but Casablanca is my go to movie. It's more like comfort food, as is the animated Beauty and the Beast.

Koren (koren56) | 768 comments Leah wrote: "August 11, Friday: Are you usually able to fall asleep quickly or do you toss and turn most nights?"

Usually I just read until I fall asleep. Only a problem if I'm worried about something.

Current? Nashville, which is finished until January. Oh how am I going to wait?

Also I watch Rachel Maddow almost every night and Shark Tank if nothing else is on.

August 14, Monday: What's a common food most seem to like that you can't stand?

message 45: by Sheila (new)

Sheila | 532 comments Leah wrote: "August 14, Monday: What's a common food most seem to like that you can't stand?"

Fish. While I don't mind tuna and whitefish, I do not want salmon or swordfish or the other fish on seafood restaurants. Just give me a good fried fish sandwich like you get in a bar.

Melissa (melissasd) | 948 comments Leah wrote: "August 14, Monday: What's a common food most seem to like that you can't stand?"

Here in the south, pimento cheese is real big and I can't stand it. It can be made in different ways, but I still can't eat it.

I have never liked peanut butter or Mac & cheese. Not even as a kid.

I would happily eat squid, cauliflower, etc but those two "staples" of American childhood ... absolutely not.

A Confederacy of Dunces won the Pulitzer but I hated it. In fact no one in my book club liked it. My favorite comment of the evening: "This won a Pulitzer? Was the committee on drugs that year?"

Pickles. Also ketchup.
