Fellow classic lovers, it's time for October nominations!

Nomination Rules

Gisela Hafezparast | 116 comments Can I nominate Anton Reiser. This is a lesser known classic, but well worth a read. No problem leading.

Giants in the Earth by O.E. Rølvaag. This is a rare look at the American immigrant experience that was written in a foreign language and later translated into English.

message 4: by Nina (new)

Nina | 449 comments I would like to nominate Marco Polo's The Travels. Happy to lead if it wins.

message 5: by Phil (new)

Phil J | 73 comments The End of the Affair by Graham Greene. Can lead.

message 6: by CluckingBell (new)

CluckingBell I like to read creepy leading up to Halloween, so I'll nominate The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham (carnivorous walking plants, humanity struck blind, and the end of civilization as we know it!). Published 1951, 228 p. I can lead.

That's been on my TBR list for a while.

Heather L (wordtrix) Okay, I'll play -- though I don't know if I will be able to lead.

Up the Down Staircase by Bel Kaufman

Now I really feel like a classic. This was popular when I was in junior high school.

I have posted a new poll. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to broadcast a message to the whole group. I will do so as soon as the "bug" is fixed.

The End of the Affair has won. Phil, are you still willing to lead the discussion?
