The forum-picked ALT title for August is The Sumage Solution. This is the first book in a new M/M PNR series by Gail Carriger writing under the name G.L. Carriger . Use this thread to discuss the book.
Can a gentle werewolf heal the heart of a smart-mouthed mage?

NYT bestseller Gail Carriger, writing as G. L. Carriger, presents an offbeat gay romance in which a sexy werewolf with a white knight complex meets a bad boy mage with an attitude problem. Sparks (and other things) fly.

Max fails everything - magic, relationships, life. So he works for DURPS (the DMV for supernatural creatures) as a sumage, cleaning up other mages’ messes. The job sucks and he’s in no mood to cope with redneck biker werewolves. Unfortunately, there’s something oddly appealing about the huge, muscled Beta visiting his office for processing.

Bryan AKA Biff (yeah, he knows) is gay but he’s not out. There’s a good chance Max might be reason enough to leave the closet, if he can only get the man to go on a date. Everyone knows werewolves hate mages, but Bryan is determined to prove everyone wrong, even the mage in question.

Delicate Sensibilities?

This story contains M/M sexitimes and horrible puns. If you get offended easily, then you probably will. The San Andreas Shifter stories contain blue language, dirty deeds, and outright admiration for the San Francisco Bay Area. Not for the faint of heart (mouth/tongue/etc.).

This book stands alone, but there is a prequel short story featuring Bryan’s brother, Alec, the Alpha. Want to know why the pack moved? Read Marine Biology

Morwen | 43 comments Everyone, Marine Biology is super short, super fluffy, and super wonderful. I have read it idk 10 times since the election b/c I needed all that. Carriger writes some of (if not) my favorite werewolves.

As for The Sumage Solution I put down everything I was reading to read this the day it came out and... all the feels about Biff, all of them.

Margaret Kearney (makeralfish) Finished it yesterday. I actually had to slow myself down from reading it too fast. It was hilarious and lovely and created a fair few blushes from me. The novella is good but this was even better.Highly recommend.

Jo | 69 comments This book was good. Looking forward till the next one and going to read the preceding short story.
This book was funny! The characters had great senses of humor. The world building was an interesting take on supernatural that slowly unfolded through the book.
There is a warning in the beginning of what you are getting into and man did this book set my blush-o-meter off. It had done damn sexy sexy-times! I was listening to the audio and several times looked around bright red before remembering I as the only one that could hear.

Florence I read the book a couple of weeks ago during my vacation. I loved it!

The story was funny and really sexy. The characters were quirky and very sweet together. I liked the worldbuilding and the concept for the «weird» pack moving/escaping to San Francisco.

My only very little complaint was that the mystery unfolded a bit too easily for my taste. I would have enjoyed it more if it had been a little more complex.

I am so glad we picked this books as the alt this month, because it made me reconnect with Gail Carriger's books. I read The Parasol Protectorate years ago when it was published, but never got around to reading any of her other series. I will definetly remedy to that now. I need to get Marine Biology soon!
