It's pretty easy, actually. Select one book that was first published for each year from 1900 to 1999, and read them in 12 months.

For ease of record keeping, folders will be set up for each decade, where you can share your proposed reading lists and record finished reads.

Each book is awarded 10pts . If a decade is read in chronological order ( and this only means that, for example 1910 is read before 1911, and 1911 before 1912, and so on ), an extra 100pts is awarded to that decade.

If the entire century is read in chronological order, an extra 1000pts will be awarded.

100 bonus points can also be earnt for reading a decade in alphabetical order, either author's first or last name, or the title ( choose one option per decade, you can not mix and match ! ).

100 bonus points may be earnt if all the books in the decade appear on one of these major literary prize lists.

Sub challenges might appear from time to time, these will be separate from the main challenge.

Bonus points :
+5 for non-Western selections
+5 for reading from these prize lists , +50 if all the books in one decade are prize winners, +100 if all the prizes are from the same list
+5 multiple reads, for when it's too much like Sophie's Choice and you just can't settle on that one book, or you've finished a decade and want to explore it some more ( only the first book will read for a year will be considered if you are reading chronologically )

Hi Kenny, and welcome. If you need any suggestions about where to look, please let me know.

If you have an e-reader, Project Gutenberg is a great place to look, and monthly reads should help you out ( you can count these as your read for a year if you like ). :)
