Emmanuel Kalu (pstkalu) | 5 comments This is a very logical question. And the logic behind this question is such that we really have to neglect the facts behind the subject "Baptism", and embrace the truth behind it.
I think it makes sense to understand what baptism "truly" means. Before Jesus' arrival on the scene, there was a man named John who was notorious for the same subject. But Jesus was tasked with the same mandate to baptize as many as receive Him (Luke 3:16). Now my answer will now go this way; if peradventure, I was baptized by immersion (water) and then further, baptized with the Holy Spirit by Jesus. And I find myself completely logged-off from redemption, if I am restored back to the faith, I'm I in any way entitled to the accessories that goes with redemption after my restoration?

Salvation is ONLY by grace through faith.

Salvation is KEPT by God's power through faith.

Salvation ENDS in faith.
_________

Water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism are events that happen AFTER salvation.
_________

The real key is, "Were you baptized INTO the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit?"

1 Corinthians 12:13 - "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."

Emmanuel Kalu (pstkalu) | 5 comments The Holy Spirit is below addressed as a sealer and baptism (Water or Spirit) is the part of the token of His seal on anyone.
(Eph 4:29 - 31) Let no filthy talk come out of your mouths, but only what is good for building up as the need may be. This way you will give grace to those who hear you.
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit, by whom you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption . . .

Sir if I truly understand your question, I presume you are asking "how many times are we supposed to be baptized", hence "One? Many? or Both?
Any true believer knows too well that salvation is produced and sustained if favorable by grace through faith. And also that baptism by revelations in the new testament is a sealer to salvation. Except you have a different views to this, but this is actually what Christ taught and it is the same truth the Holy Spirit is tasked to bring to our remembrance.

Taking it from your stance Sir, are you saying if any man contravenes the status of righteousness, the same fellow has a stored up package awaiting his return? Let us not jeopardize the truth that baptism, be it of water or the Spirit is a function of Redemption where grace and faith have already have their work on an individual. Now if your answer is No! Then I want to posit that baptism can be physically many (either water or of the Holy Spirit), but spiritually, One action that can be re-validated as provisioned by salvation or restoration. 1John 2:1-4.

There is ONLY ONE baptism that is part of redemption.

* The Holy Spirit
* Baptizes a person who is becoming a Chrsitian
* INTO the Body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:13 - "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit."

Emmanuel Kalu (pstkalu) | 5 comments I would have loved to read your book to really know what your take is on these issues. But I doubt if you are meaning to say that a believer is baptized before he believes and redeemed?

Robert Dallmann (robert_dallmann) | 1909 comments Mod
No, a believer is not baptized (or should not be) before he is redeemed.

Baptisms for believers...

* Baptized BY the Holy Spirit INTO the Body of Christ (1 Cor 12:13)

* Baptized BY Jesus INTO the Holy Spirit (Mark 1:8)

* Baptized BY another believer INTO water (Acts 10:47)

Indeed we only know in part... but the parts that we know... should be accurate! :-)
