Ohh definitely let us know how that book is! Have you watched the series? I wonder how similar they are.

I'm reading White Teeth by Zadie Smith. It's good, but her first novel - I read her On Beauty first and it was gorgeously written. Highly recommend.

message 5: by Erin (new)

Erin I belong to a group trying to read 100 books this year, as well as several of the challenge groups, so I've got lots of books planned! Just in July, I'm hoping to read The Seamstress 656 pgs, Styxx 836 pgs and Forever Amber 972 pgs. I think I can earn a few bucks for Pages4Progress. What a great charity!

message 6: by Diana (new)

Diana | 2 comments Currently reading The Girls Of Atomic City, women who worked on the Manhattan Project. Really gives a feel for what their lives were like, from the secrecy to the constant mud at Oak Ridge, and the sacrifices everyone made.

Just finished The Truth is a cave in the Black Mountains, by Neil Gaiman. Interesting, with paintings on every page. Based on a Scottish legend.

Recommendations:

Quirky humor--read The Rosie Project.

After these it'll be The Kane Chronicles Series by Rick Riordan (3 books). I gotta finish them anyways to return them to the library, so why not put the pagecounts to good use?

jingles Thanks for inviting me to the group, Erin! What a wonderful idea.

I hope I'm doing this correctly. May I use this post to track my progress as we work towards our goal?

I will also post each time I finish a book--the title, author, date finished, and a star rating.

I'm so excited to be part of the group! Thanks again for the invitation!

Actually, you post your pages here, on the #Pages4Project website: http://worlded.org/pages4progress/

This group is just to recommend books and talk about what everyone engaged in the project is reading.

Thanks for reading and keep up the hard work!

Wow I really wish I had known about this before today! I read all the time and am so happy that I can put it towards something really great :)

This month I am currently reading:
1. The Stand which is over 1100 pages so I am so happy to contribute this one!
2. The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie which is quirky and funny, great intro to mysteries for me because I am not really a mystery person
3. Just started Shadowmagic on audiobook this morning, it seems good from what I can tell so far. The audiobook is available free here: http://podiobooks.com/title/shadowmagic/ if anyone is interested :)
4. Death Note: Black Edition, Volume 1 I have seen the anime a couple of times and have been wanting to read the comics for a long time, so far really enjoyable.

I just finished Storm Front on audiobook this morning so I was able to donate 45 pages (I estimated, hope that is ok!).

Finally, before the end of the month I plan to get to:
1. Sea of Shadows
2. Hush, Hush
and hopefully a few more :)

message 14: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ Like Kelsi said, I wish I had known about this charity sooner. I've read 175 books his year and wish I could claim those pages. Oh well better late than never.

This morning I started Drive Me Wild - Christine Warren (295 pages)
And I've been listening to The Ice Princess - Camilla Läckberg (416 pages but only 83 today)

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know if you are allowed to count pages for the whole year though...I think it just started at the beginning of the month.

I've also found a new science fiction/fantasy with the cutest gargoyle, [book:Black Wings
by Christina Henry. I think the third one is just out. Interesting characters without cheesy, helpless girls!

Annalie Barbara, I enjoyed The Ice Princess very much!

I'm reading I Capture the Castle at the moment.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

You're more than welcome to log pages from audio books! After you finish listening to one, just find out how many pages the print book is and use that as your log amount.

I would honestly say that the show is better than the book because of its amazing dialogue. That said - the book is much more informative about women's prisons, and it presents statistics that make one realize how completely ridiculous it is that we are funding our prison system so much more than education.

Are you a 6th or 7th grade teacher by any chance? I teach middle school, but I didn't know about the 101 Questions and Answers book. Sounds very cool! I don't love the Rick Riordan books, but I know some of my students are hooked.

Not a teacher at all, just a love for Ancient Egypt that leads me to pick up any book I can find on the topic XD There's another 101 on Ancient Egypt by the same author. Investigating Ancient Egypt: Fresh Perspectives on Egyptian Culture in 101 Questions and Answers. I wanna pick up that one at some point as well.

message 41: by Fiona (new)

Fiona (fionab) Hello all, happy to be a part of the #pages4progress project.

Just finished reading Natchez Burning by Greg Iles. Not an easy read by any stretch but would highly recommend.

Also reading How to Talk So Teens Will Listen and Listen So Teens Will Talk and still ploughing my way through The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. Loved both of her other books and desperately wanted to like this one but I seem to be in the camp of unimpressed. Someone tell me it gets better?!

message 42: by Brigitte (new)

Brigitte (peculiarb) So happy to be part of #pages4progress.
I just finished reading, and logging in, the entire Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini ( Eragon; Inheritance; Eldest; Brisingr )!
I'm really fond of YA, so the books I read aren't that long but I do read a lot. My next project is Eon: Dragoneye Reborn and then probably more books about dragons.
