Katie Hi everyone,

So I've never tried listening to an audio book but was wondering, for those of you who had, what did you think?
Do you prefer it to reading? Or not?

Heather C | 12 comments I'm still struggling with this. I've tried a few audio but they seem to take so long. I need more testing. Haha

Stacey (staceyissassy) I love to use audio books for my re-reads. My reading schedule is pretty hectic with ARC's and books that I've bought. I love re-reading my favourites but found that I didn't have the time. I also found that it was easier for a re-read because you didn't necessarily have to give it 100% of your attention. I do a lot of baking for my family and it makes it even more fun when I'm listening to a good book. I also travel to work by train and it gives me a solid hour of listening per day. Kristen Ashley audios are my favourites and Rock Chicks and Fantasyland are my favourite series to listen to.

Megan Green | 5 comments I like audio books for when I'm doing mindless tasks at work. I have to speed them up to about 1.5 though, otherwise they seem sooo slow. But, I still prefer actual reading. Audios just help make the work day go by a little faster :)

I JUST started getting into audio -- this week I bought Harry Potter for my daughter - who is 7 and a little too young to read it -- and we've been listening in the car. We are both LOVING it, but....obviously never want to get out of the car!

One of the reasons Im getting back in to audio, is my last series is being produced and will release September 26 by Audible.

I haven't done a ton of romance on audio--I stick to mystery? One of my FAVORITE books to listen to was Jackdaws by Ken Follet and I just picked up another one by him last week.

I only listen in the car <3

Audio books are great for when you're unable to sit down and read a book. Like when you're vacuuming haha. Or pretty much doing any chore.

ConfessionsofaRomanceJunkie | 3 comments I personally prefer to read rather than listen. I've tried to listen to a few audio books while at work or driving because it's convenient but I can't seem to stop giggling whenever I hear the woman attempt a man's part. Don't even get me started on the sex scenes! I've thought myself pretty immune to most, but LISTENING to a scene on audio gets me blushing about 27 different shades of red like a shocked and untouched virgin! LOL

Ohhh I can see the appeal in listening to mystery. I might have to give that a try. Listening to romance doesn't seem to be for me, but perhaps I'll feel differently about mystery.

Tracy | 6 comments I used to listen to audio when I had a 45 minute car ride there and back to work. Now I find it hard to find time to listen to audio. I like it, but I'd rather listen to thriller or mystery than romance on audio.

message 10: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrisreads31) | 1 comments I listen to audiobooks when I can't read. Running errands, exercising, etc.

message 11: by Katie (new)

Katie Indeed I guess it depends on the genre of the books.
Romance may not be the best audio books.
Sex scenes would either make you blush or giggle.

Nadia (nadz158) | 4 comments I like audiobooks. My biggest problem is the sex scenes... WAY awkward. That's why so far I have been sticking with non-fiction as my audiobook reads, like Richard Dawkins, Neil deGrasse Tyson etc. I want to actually try to listen to a romance book on audio and see how it goes.

I LOVE the idea of listening to mysteries! I used to listen to these LPs of mystery radio broadcasts from the 40s. I loved it. I hadn't thought about that in a lifetime.
