Unfortunately it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. It started out good, but then the plot fell apart and the character and story arc didn't hold. I had hoped the group could iron out the issues but no luck back then since everyone in the group agreed with the issues I had.
Hopefully this time around this group discussion would help me see the novel in a more favorable light.

I live in Denmark and joined Goodreads two years ago, in order to get some more reading done. I am so glad about this forum and I especially cherish our Victorians! group.
I have two grown children - one of them is a teenager and still at home. I work in finance and administration and my husband is Chinese and works as an actor in China (commuting back and forth). I lived in China for 13 years and often find myself comparing the descriptions in our Victorian books with life in the backward Chinese countryside, tracing the economic and intellectual development up to our time and society.
I am looking forward to reading this book with you. I have already started. It promises for a good read, so I am excited about it.

Hi Charlotte, lovely to meet you :).
Looking for to you leading the discussion

Welcome to you too, Mary! Please feel free to post whatever you feel like during our discussion.
Here is a bit of Victorians!'s statistics regarding our current read:
This is the third time the group is reading The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, thereby marking a first. No other book has done this so far, the other times being 2010 and 2012. Also, it was only nominated three times. So every time it made it to a poll, it won.

Thanks for this! Interesting to know. I'm glad the group is reading it for a third time since I missed the other two reads.
I didn't know that Victorians had read this before. This is my first after joining the Goodreads and the Victorian group.
Thanks for the information, Kerstin. The statistics definitely speaks volumes for the book's popularity.

That's the kind of stuff I uncovered when I cleaned up the bookshelf. Now anyone can see under the "shelves" column if and when a book was read before - as best as I could reconstruct it.
