We're just about halfway through the year! What have been your favourites of the books you've read so far in 2014?

message 2: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I enjoyed Ready Player One, https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... , Elixir, and all the others I've read that have been pretty good reads. The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past manga was pretty good too.

A H I read some awesome books this year...choosing favorites is really difficult, but anyway, here they are :

Where She Went (If I Stay, #2) by Gayle Forman Someone Else's Life by Katie Dale Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher The Book Thief by Markus Zusak A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin

Kassandra | -1 comments There have been so many great books that I've read this year...it's really hard to narrow it down. Here are those that are still top of mind:

Looking for Alaska
The Bear

Where'd You Go, Bernadette
Dark Places
An Abundance of Katherines
Jack of Diamonds
Sycamore Row

Lady Audley's Secret
The Grifters
Something Fresh
The Count of Monte Cristo
Don Quixote"

Some interesting books! I loved Don Quixote too. Have you read Carlotto's book in Italian?

Till now my favourite books of the year:

The Woman Destroyed by Simone de Beauvoir
The Life Before Us: "Madame Rosa" by Romain Gary
Embers by Sándor Márai
Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Most favorite book so far:

Skin Game by Jim Butcher

Absolutely blown away by this series - just keeps getting better!

#2 was:

Joyland byStephen King

Uncle Stevie is in prime form with this little novel (you can drop it on your foot and not risk a fracture) - please don't write it off if you're not a fan of horror. There's very little here, it's more a coming-of-age tale.

This year so far it's Dune, The Count of Monte Cristo, No Name, and Post Captain. But, all four were rereads of old favorites. (3 are stories of revenge. Don't judge!)

For new-to-me faves, I'd have to say...
My Life in France
The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner
The Martian Chronicles

But my favorite audio was Matilda read by Kate Winslet. It is the best reading I've ever heard!

dely Iasa wrote: "dely, I did read it in Italian but I had the help of my Italian friends, my Italian is pretty poor. I was given an Italian copy for my birthday one year, I've been waiting ages to be able to read it."

That's very good and don't stop reading in Italian! I have improved my English a lot reading and chatting in English, it is very important in order to not forget a language.

I think Hild is my favourite of the two, but just barely. Americanah is quite lovely, and just barely made the 2014 list, as I finished it yesterday!
