I am not far into this book yet but I started Mission: Improper and so far it is interesting. This is not really my type of book (steam punk), but I try anything so I am excited for an adventure.
Has anyone else joined me?

Sylvia Walker | 20 comments I'm about 30 pages into The Far Shore. It's not a book I would have picked up on my own, so it's fun to stretch my reader wings!

Cool, I will try that one next! :)

Emily Kestrel | 22 comments I have The Far Shore on my kindle and will probably read it in the next week or so. I might try Mission: Improper later depending on how much progress I make through the never-ending piles TBRs. I just maxed out the number of titles I can borrow with kindle unlimited and then went to the library and checked out a huge stack of books, why oh why do I do this to myself? :)

This story sounds like what I do, as well. :) I know what you mean.

Karen ⚜Mess⚜ Just realized I have Mission Improper. I'll start reading that as soon as I finish the horrible book I'm reading.

Kate I have started the Far Shore... Not sure how I feel about it yet. But I'm also not very far into it yet either

I am a little further into this one for me, it is taking me some time to get used to the book. I haven't made an opinion on it yet. I do know for me it has not grabbed me yet.

If you don't like Steampunk then Bec McMaster is kind of hard to get into. I did read Kiss of Steel (London Steampunk, #1) by Bec McMaster and enjoyed it. But I can see how it would be difficult to get into Bec's groove.

I say so far "the jury is still out" on this one. I like books that grab me in the beginning and keep me interested but some books have surprised me and grab me 5 or so chapters in and that is just as good. I do like the vampire part of the book and that has kept me wanting to find out what else this book will have in the pages. The banter between characters reminds me of one of my favorite series, Kate Daniels series. :) So I am getting into this book I believe!

Sylvia Walker | 20 comments I'm on page 311 of The Far Shore, but I think I'll put it down for a while. GRIM doesn't begin to describe it! I think I'll focus on my The Adventures of John Carson in Several Quarters of the World, by Brian Doyle, for a while, instead.

It seems to be 2 types of vampires in Mission Improper. Cool! Has anyone else found this to be true?

Sarah Aly wrote: "It seems to be 2 types of vampires in Mission Improper. Cool! Has anyone else found this to be true?"

I just started (chapter 4) and I'm not sure yet. It seems like one might be a mindless zombie killing machine and one just might be a partial vampire? It's not exactly clear.

For my part, I'm worried this will be too heavy on the romance for me. I like the occasional romance but it seems like the author came up with a solid plot line for them to follow and is spending too much time trying to build the sexual tension between Byrnes and Ingrid.

I'm still undecided. Hoping it picks up. I do like the characters so far.

I do agree with you on these points, Sarah! There is lots of sexual tension. I am curious now to see how it ends.

Karen ⚜Mess⚜ I'm really liking this book. I see some characters and events mentioned that I remember from Kiss of Steel (London Steampunk, #1) by Bec McMaster

I have finished this book, Mission: Improper, my review was 4/5 stars. Now I will see if I have time for the next book.

It was a good ending, yet left us wanting to read book 2!

message 19: by Kate (new)

Kate I finished Far Shore... it was fairly good... pretty dark.
