Heidi Garrett (heidi_g) | 4 comments The J.R.R. Tolkien Epic Reads group is going to begin reading The Hobbit on September 1st. We'll be reading two chapters a month. So, if you're in the mood for a slow, thoughtful read of this wonderful book, please join us!

Plus we have an AWESOME art thread for The Silmarillion!

Heidi Garrett (heidi_g) | 4 comments Halo Anne, thanks for letting me spread the word here:) AND ... congratulations on the collection of books you're writing about Tolkien's works. I suppose you've read them all? We just finished reading The Children of Hurin and I did not like it all. Did you like that book? Just wondering if you had a different perspective.

Anyway, YES, I just want Tolkien lovers to have the opportunity to see the awesome art thread that Rachmi and Wita created. (I cannot take credit for that!) It is just so inspiring to me.

Namarie:) Heidi

Heidi Garrett (heidi_g) | 4 comments Well, I'm with you:) If we weren't reading CoH with the group, I would have stopped reading it. So do you read on an e-reader? or just mark the books? I was shocked to pick up my paperback edition of The Hobbit to find it riddled with multi-colored highlights. Apparently, I was tracking different characters, lol. I have to agree with you on the "what a shame he didn't continue." I can see his son's desire to release his unfinished works, but I'd really love to have seen the completed works as envisioned by the author himself. SIGH. Still, what a rich legacy he left us!

Heidi Garrett (heidi_g) | 4 comments Anne, I read your blog post. It's amazing and beautiful. It is long so I had to set aside some time, but really well done. How does that compare to the work in your books? Oh, plus, what a great blog, huh?

I'm going to post links to your post—VERY worthwhile read—and that blog on our Resources thread in our group. Thank you for pointing me in that direction.

What book is The Sea-Bell in? I've also read Fairy-stories and Leaf by Niggle, both of which I very much enjoyed. But none of the rest ...

The Sea-Bell is one of the poems in The Tolkien Reader. I like that poem and Errantry for their internal rhymes.
