This book was really tricky to keep track of, and I kept loosing how people were connected, and who was actually with who at any given time. I was also confused about Chris and Simon's parents.

I think in Shadows, Chris commented that Yeager had gotten his business partner's wife pregnant. Than we later found out that Jess was that business partner/Finn's wife. However they kept referring to them as grandparents, and that wouldn't explain how Chris ended up living with an abusive man that wasn't even his father.

So did I misread that?

I have no desire to read it again to figure it out, but that piece is bugging me. Also, was Mellie Finn's sister. Somehow missed that explanation, but in the final battle they said something like "she looke like her brother."

Yeager and Jess had a daughter. That daughter had twin boys (Simon & Chris)
Yeager & Jess' daughter could not look after the twins and asked her parents if they could take the twins. Yeager said they would only take 1, which happened to be Simon. Meaning that Chris was sent to live with his father.

I think I remember Chris asking Yeager why he picked Simon over him and because they were very religious, he said that his Daughter was holding Simon on the right (Chris on the left) as the Devil sits on the left - he picked Simon. Well, something along those lines anyway. Lol.

As for the Mellie/Finn thing, I can't really remember, sorry!
