David (codefiction) | 10 comments Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling

As this was the Book Of The Month for August, I believe this is now a shelved read for this group. Therefore Rowen and myself have decided to read it as a buddy read.

I'll call this a Buddy Catchup since we're actually catching up to what most of the group has already caught up to. I am anyway, since this is a re-read for Rowen. Anyone who missed out is welcome to join us of course.

Tentative window is through the end of September, but I will probably finish it long before then.

If I'm in error in creating this thread, I hope a mod will step in and correct it.

Marcos Kopschitz | 1766 comments Actually we're discussing how to do just what you've done, perhaps in a more organized way, so Kasey might add some considerations.

But this idea of doing just that is exactly what I proposed some time ago, see message 129 in the "Suggestion Box" thread. So, I think that's great! :-)

I'd be in. I didn't manage to get to this until the very end of the month so I have barely started my reread.

Marcos Kopschitz | 1766 comments An important remind: all discussions remain open even after the end of the month read. So, each original book discussion thread is where the discussion should go on in these buddy reads.

Great! I'm going to start reading tonight.

Not sure how we're going to formally handle buddy reads, so reserving the right to maybe change this up, but thank you for taking the initiative!
Enjoy the read! As Marcos mentioned above, the discussions for Harry Potter from last month are still open and active - can be found in the Modern Classics/Popular Reads discussion folder.

Rowen | 47 comments Question:
Am I right that when we leave comments about Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone it's best to post them at one of these two threads?

Or is it better to post them here?

I would post in one of those two threads. That way you can discuss with the broader group. Many people subscribe to group discussions and will get alerts when you comment on a thread that they have viewed or commented on themselves. You can also read about what others thought of the books!

Thank you very much for your response. I'm looking forward to reading others comments on the book and posting mine as well.
