Given that Decker was undercover for three years and members of Ken Sweeney's enterprise are still at large, why wouldn't the FBI have set up protection for him while he was in the hospital?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Not sure whether it would be FBI policy or not to protect a deep undercover operative who was wounded.

His cover was blown when he was injured.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments FBI thought they had killed or captured everyone involved in Ken's enterprise and they did. The Professor was a client they didn't know about and they couldn't have known he would go after Decker.

But Joel Whipple got away and is still out there. I would have thought that was enough to have had some protection for him while he was in a coma.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments True, but Joel was never involved with the "wet work" of the enterprise. He was a numbers guy and he skipped with enough money to make it worthwhile to retire.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7669 comments Mod
But he kept the books which details the entire enterprise. It's the person who manages the money that has the power, especially since Ken didn't keep records. He didn't know what Decker knew. Conversely, since Decker was in a coma, the FBI didn't know what he knew and if there were others out there. It just seemed prudent that until they could debrief Decker, they needed to protect him.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments You win. He should have had protection.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7669 comments Mod
Lol! I was just pleading my case.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 52 comments Good points, ladies.

I'm with Jonetta on this one. Should definitely have had protection with bad guys still out there and the case not completely resolved. That was why Kate was there after all. To find out what Decker still knew.
