**READ UP TO THE END OF CHAPTER 3**
Aaaaand we’re back. One year later, Luthadel is still in quite the disarray.

Vin is paranoid, and for good reason, with assassins being after her beloved Elend and all. Not to mention Straff, Elend’s own father, is marching an army toward Luthadel. I think he truly believes his son will just hand him the throne.

Lord Renoux- errr…. the kandra, now has a name! Oreseur. What an odd name. Well I mean, I guess it is an odd creature.

Also, who is this watcher? He doesn’t seem to want to kill Vin or Elend…
The title of Part One is “Heir of the Survivor”, is it possible that maybe Kelsier had a child? I think I remember something about him saying that his wife/girlfriend (idk) always wanted a daughter…. maybe he is saying this because they had a son? Could this Watcher be Kelsiers son whom he trained secretly in allowmancy??? Just a theory.

What do you think that figure was on the rooftop?
“[…] It’s features were cloudy and vague, outlined by the chaotic churnings of windblown mist.”
To me it sort of sounds like what I would picture a Kandra to look like, just without a human shell.

Dimitris (dimitris_lianos) Here is the loyal reader, ready to contribute his two cents! :)

This second book of the Trilogy started so amazingly, full action from page one, I didn't expect it. I read these 50 pages without looking up from the pages!

Even though a year has passed since the events of The Final Empire, the author doesn't let us draw a breath. Others would allow their characters a few scenes of well-deserved rest, but not Sanderson. ;) That scene with Vin facing the eight intruders by herself was more intense, complex and action-packed than any fight I read in the previous book. A battle to the death, perfectly described and executed!
Vin has grown so much, she is practically keeping Elend alive by herself, yet she never forgets Kelsier, her mentor, and always considers him the far superior Mistborn. That humbling quality in Luthandel's present top Mistborn warrior - also sleeping on a rug, on the floor, next to Elend's desk, to watch over him! - makes me love her even more.

I'm shocked at that theory that Kelsier might have left a son behind, that would be so cool! I don't know if he was old enough, he and his wife were in their mid-thirties, she died three years before him, I think, when would they have had the time to have this child who is now a full adult? Also, no one in the group would know about this? It would have been mentioned... I'm inclined to believe that the title of this Part I simply describes Vin as Kelsier's Heir, but I hope I'm wrong, I want a part of Kelsier to still be alive!

What to say of that pompous piece of crap that is Straff Venture? Isn't it bad enough that he was supporting this immortal Tyrant for decades, causing the death and suffering of thousands.... Isn't it treasonous enough that he abandoned his Lord, his Castle, his son, when faced with a rebellion and ran like a coward to the countryside.... But for him to think that now, after others freed the world of the Lord Ruler, he has any right to return and have even the slighest claim - by force! - to anything he turned his back on at the most crucial moment, a year ago.... It makes my blood boil! Elend should never even consider allowing the counsil to surrender the capital to this snake, his own head would fall within a day. They must find the hidden atium, they should have turned the entire city upside down in the past year.

But the greatest interest in these first pages for me comes from the secrets that Vin keeps hidden inside her, secrets that she herself can't understand or explain. Why can she alone see through copper-clouds (if they are called that, I'm reading a translation), something even Kelsier wasn't able to, something only Iron Inquisitors and the Lord Ruler managed? What is this mist entity she alone was able to sense on the rooftop over Elend's private chambers? Could it be... Kelsier's ghost or something else supernatural? This series so far hasn't introduced such otherwordly elements.... Maybe with the fall of the Lord Ruler, suppresed religions and old forgotten gods are slowly coming back?!
Most important of all: what is that, well, supernatural strength that she alone somehow managed to gather from the mists, that allowed her to kill the Lord Ruler? She must find a way to tap into this source of immense strength again! I'm starting to feel like these mists aren't as innocent as the aristocrats would think. There are secrets in them, life, power, the skaa weren't so naϊve to fear them after all...

I feel all these cannot answered by things we "missed" while reading so far but are things that will be answered in the following chapters! So by all means, let's read more! :)

Yes, no rest for these poor characters! I really liked the fight scene, like you said, it was more intense then any fight in the first book. I'm a bit worried for Vin though. She has definitely grown, and it's very honoring of her to keep Elend safe from assassins. However, I worry that she might not be enough. Hopefully in the pages to come she will be able to find some more Mistborn to recruit or an army of Mistings. Keeping Elend safe is important, but I want Vin to be safe too! ^_^ Hahaha it's so cute how she sleeps on a rug next to his desk!

Yes, I think it would have been impossible for Kelsier to have a child and hide it from everyone. Unless he sent it him off to someone to train in secret? I will still hope! Haha but yeah I think it probably is just referring to Vin being the heir. :P

Straff is a horrible person. Honestly, I know he's Elend's father and all, but if I were Elend I would send out some assassins of my own or get Straff close enough under false surrender, then take him out. He's corrupt.

YESSS they need to find the lost Atium reserves (if they ever did exist)!!! I don't know how they're going to hold the city without it!

Yupp they are called copperclouds in the English translation as well! :) I'm definitely curious as to what's going on with Vin as well! The mist must be some type of metal that can be used, just nobody has figured it out yet!

Wild theory: Maybe Vin will learn to 'burn' the mists metals, and discover that even Skaa can do this, then she will train an army of skaa to support her kingdom >:)

But yes, let's keep reading and discover out some of these secrets that haven't been revealed! ;)
