Judd is Psy, an emotionless, highly programmed mental soldier/assassin who defected with his family when he realized that his nieces and nephew were deemed dangerous and scheduled to be rehabilitated (i.e. turned into vegetables). They are now under the protection of the changelings at the wolf pack den. Judd, however, is still Psy and emotions cause physical pain at the threat of breaking his Silence or programming. Brenna, a wolf who was rescued from a Psy serial killer, craves emotion and is drawn to Judd. He is fighting a tough battle with himself. Outside of their personal story is a Psy plot to cause havoc and possibly war between the changeling clans; someone with a personal vendetta against Brenna, and a rebel, called the Ghost, who is running a mission to destroy a new Psy Protocol that plans to target young children. This story has a lot of angst. A good addition to the series.
