I was leery, too, and knew Harry needed to watch his back. Kiz’s influence did make me feel better, unfortunately.

The fact that this is partially true and his real motive was for Harry to expose the chief's machinations only made me more irritated with Irving - he didn't really care about his son's death at all!
George probably realized he was just a tool for his father and that contributed to his decision to commit suicide.
I never got a sense from Irving that he cared why George may have committed suicide.
