How are you liking the characters so far? & What do you think of the plot? Also what are your thoughts on the world?

Kassie (sassyykassie) | 13 comments i wasn't sure how much i'd like this book, and i was riveted from the beginning! now knowing that he's able to cast charms as well as wield weapons like a warrior, i'm so curious how strong he will be able to get!

Alex Espino (heretherebeareader) | 8 comments Really enjoying the book so far. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Naxena | 9 comments Very intrigued with Hastings.

Brin | 2 comments I love this book and am glad everyone's enjoying it!!!

Quinton (asagecalledq) | 17 comments Ok things really started to pick up in these chapters and it was very welcome.

So far I find Jack and his friends pretty likable. Since we finally know a little of what's going on I"m interested where exactly this book is going. The world is interesting enough.

Zelia | 2 comments Hastings. And Linda. Power couple right there.

Naxena | 9 comments I am in love with Hastings, & yes, total power couple.

I totally, 100% agree.

And am I the only one that thinks Ellen is awesome? I wish we could see more of her - I have this theory (that I'm really hoping is true), that she's involved somehow in the whole Guild life, but part of me knows that's just wishful thinking. But the scene with Leesha and the ice cream? "Are you going to finish that?" sasssssssy.

Christina (adventuresinpolishland) | 17 comments At this point I'm getting a little bored, and I don't like the unnecessary violence between Jack and the other boys. I also wish I understood the world in more clarity, as I feel details are being leaked out at a slow rate. Part of me feels like Ellen might be in on the Weir society, due to her my serious illnesses and often traveling. I still don't trust Hastings 100% either.

Margaret Lyon (margaretlyon) | 4 comments I really like these characters, like I've said, and I really like how the world building is. It's a decent sized book but it's been easy to fly through.

Totally agree with you!

Liv (oliviareadstoomuch) I'm liking the book so far. Setting up to the world is sort of slow for now. I think it's interesting that ordinary people can inter-marry with the wizards and such, and can have children that don't have powers. I thought that finding out about Jack and his lack of a stone was very interesting.

Elizabeth (Elzburg) (elzburg) | 5 comments I've never liked Leesha, but when Ellen poured her drink on Leesha's outfit... that was NOT cool. And unsolicited. All Leesha was doing was toying with Ellen and Ellen totally over does it. Psh.

Sara Jess So this book has no discernible qualities that makes it stand apart from the rest. If it was a box of cereal it would be the rip off lucky charms or rice crispies, etc. etc. The characters have stereotyped personalities if no personality at all. Ellen is CLEARLY a Weir everyone. Hastings is probably Lee. So far 3 Star rating. Will probably not be continuing with this series.

Bookworm | 31 comments So far, I found this book pretty slow, except for the last few chapters. The bits I enjoyed the most were the fighting/training scenes and the romancy-bits between Jack and Ellen. Although I like most characters, I couldn't really connect with any of them. This may not be the most exciting book ever, but I'm still interested to see where this story goes. I also have the feeling that the story will pick up towards the end, so I might continue on with the series.

Mom2triplets04 | 40 comments It was a big struggle to read this part. The first part I was reading very fast but now it's like torture. So slow. Didn't pick up till like 190 again. Not sure I'll be able to finish. Does it get better should I continue?

message 18: by Sara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Sara Jess Yes. It does, but If you show no interest by around 250-280 then I suggest putting it down.

Kaitlyn Meacham | 6 comments I have been enjoying the book so far. I absolutely love Ellen; she is sassy and amazing I hope we see more of her later on. I feel like her story definitely ties into the Weir world. As of right now I would give the book four stars and plan on continuing on with the series.

chris (f4gtian) | 13 comments Wow, this part was so slooow. The story is not getting interesting, at least for me. I think I need a better description of the characters since I don't like the world at all.

Fien (touchedbythepage) | 11 comments For me, the story finally became more interesting. We know more about the world, although not everything and I don't feel well about Dr Longbranch knowing Wylie. I am still convinced that Hastings is Lee but I'm not entirely sure I like him. I don't really get a visual image from him. I also think Ellen has something to do with the Weir. I sort of dislike how Jack lost his temper and control after months of training but the story must kick-off somewhere so maybe it's finally happening now? I'm intrigued!

Vanessa | 24 comments I really wanted to like this book but so far it's just been ok to me. The plot is ok, the characters are ok (although I really like Ellen and wish we could see more of her), the world building though, is done really well and I like finding out the backstory of how the Weir got started.

Javien Heflin | 1 comments I just finished was really slow at the beginning really picked up at the end all in all a good story
