Nominations for August from 2014 list

It is a historical novel looking at natural science, art, religion and the role of women, set all over the world.

so good!!! i would actually re-read this if it wins the poll.
i read it last year, and i think it was the book that surprised me the most in 2013 (in a good way). i have not read EPL, but had read gilbert's previous novel Stern Men (and then i went back and re-read 'stern men' after TSoAT - i could see where the new novel evolved from, so that was cool.) i have been recommending TSoAT a lot and, so far, with great results. :)

Is there a thread to nominate from the archive list, or am I just being particularly incompetent today?

it's here, susan: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I have that one on my to-read list as well.

If not I think we might put the polls up next week to give people time to vote and then get hold of the winning book for August.

If anyone would like to do the suggestion of reading The Goldfinch over 2 months then please nominate that book again and state a 2 month read!
thanks everyone!
