Neutrino Increasing | 62 comments Any fans of John Metcalfe around here? Pretty underrated author who wrote in the similar vein as Walter de la Mare or L. P. Hartley at his best. Elegant, subdued, often open ended weird fiction...
Right now, all of his slim output is available on Kindle as Nightmare Jack and Other Stories. For those who love their el expensivo small press extravaganza, Centipede Press will apparently publish an illustrated hardback sometimes in the future (contents will be the same as in above Ash Tree Press collection).

Dan I just read my first John Metcalfe story titled "The Renegade" in a hard-to-find August Derleth anthology: Over the Edge. That is the first and last serious story I ever expect to read featuring a were-rhino. The writing was really strong and I'd be interested in reading more Metcalfe. That's how I found your post after all this time. Thanks for mentioning an easy-to-acquire collection of Metcalfe's writing.

You know, he wrote one novel that was published during his life: The Feasting Dead. I wonder if that's any good? Hmm, apparently the novel can be found in this collection: The Mammoth Book of Short Horror Novels.
