So we all know that we get the best books from other people's recommendations, so, what are you reading and tell us your thoughts and your predicted rating for the novel.

electra | 159 comments I'm currently reading Wintergirls! I didn't come far yet, but so far it's... interesting... different from what I've expected. Depending on the rest, I might give it four or three stars, but I do want to read more from Laurie Halse Anderson.

message 6: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stoolfire Shadow's Dangers (Last Hope, #1) by Cindy Mezni - pretty good so far but at times the dialog feels a little off.

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare - probably a 5 star!

The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom - the free download from YA Sync a week or two ago and it will most definitely be a five star.

message 7: by Johans (new)

Johans | 16 comments I'm currently re-reading City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare It's good but not my favourite of the series, I give it a 4 stars.

message 8: by Connie (new)

Connie (proseandconnie) | 481 comments Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead The narrator is hilarious, there's lots of action, and I am loving it so far.

message 9: by Tori (new)

Tori | 26 comments @connie I have read the first two vampire academy books and they are really good although I liked the second one better because it was more mysterious and action packed! my friend has read the whole series and said they get better as the books go on

message 10: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) I saw the movie and it really made me want to read the books(which I'm sure is better).

message 11: by Connie (new)

Connie (proseandconnie) | 481 comments @Tori I've heard the same thing, that the books get progressively better. Which is great, because I already really like the first one! Have you seen the movie?

message 12: by Tori (new)

Tori | 26 comments @connie I haven't but is it good? (:

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) Tori wrote: "@connie I haven't but is it good? (:"

A lot of people who read the book seemed to dislike the movie. I haven't read the books yet, but I liked it more than I would've thought.

Karrah (karrahann) Currently I'm trying to read An Abundance of Katherines by John Green but I haven't heard the greatest reviews on it so I'm slow to start it haha

Yay I love The Infernal Devices! In my opinion Prince is a lot better than Angel ^_^ enjoy :)

Now that I'm reading the book, I can definitely see that they've changed things. However, since I was able to watch the movie without any previous influence, I quite enjoyed it. Zoey Deutch did a great job as Rose, and the humor was definitely all there. My only complaint is a little cheesiness as Rose explains the Moroi world (but that's to be expected) and the special effects weren't the best.

What did you think of If I Stay?

message 24: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (heyjennnie) | 20 comments It's a mournful novel. From Mia's story to... well, everything, I guess? It's so beautiful quite irritating for some parts.

You definitely should pick The Book Thief up sometime! I'm not always a big fan of historical fiction, but this book is great. ;)

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

GUYS! I'm in a HUGE reading slump at the moment! And nothing seems to be appealing (I blame Anna & The French Kiss) and I really want to get out of it because this month has been a good reading month so far, except for the fact that I still haven't chosen a book to read and it's been 2 days! I can't take it anymore! Do any of you guys have suggestions?

message 44: by electra (new)

electra | 159 comments @Natasha Maybe you could try one of those really funny British teen-girl novels? I know that when I'm in a reading slump, some humor does the trick. You could try Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging (there's a whole lot of novels with the similar vibe); I haven't read it yet, but from what I got from the excerpts I read, it was pretty funny :)
Or get something you definitely know will be easy to read and also interest you. Or maybe one of those blogs-turned-into-books things, like Alice in Tumblr-land or Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened (I would probably read the latter; the blog was hilarious).
I hope I helped. I don't recommend books individually often :]

message 45: by Connie (new)

Connie (proseandconnie) | 481 comments Aw, reading slumps are the worst, Natasha. Usually I'd recommend a cute contemporary, but I think that's what Anna and the French Kiss was xD

Perhaps you could try Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout . The main character loves books, and the story is easy to follow along with. There's a paranormal element, but the first book is actually mostly just romance, haha. It's a fun, entertaining read!

message 46: by Wing (new)

Wing (wingt) Still reading The Elite (The Selection, #2) by Kiera Cass , can't seem to get into it as much as I loved the first book. And now I'm starting to read The Merciless (The Merciless, #1) by Danielle Vega .

message 47: by Bridget (new)

Bridget A Dandelion Wish (Disney The Never Girls, #3) by Kiki Thorpe I know it is a kids book but it is pretty good this is third one in the series it is good to read between big books

message 48: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Stoolfire I just finished Shadow's Dangers (Last Hope, #1) by Cindy Mezni .
