***SPOILER***The author starts this book with admission of "faults", not only of herself but of those close to her. With this admission Remini hopes to say to everyone what Scientology would threaten to reveal.

Within this book you learn of one woman's experience of growing up in the religion of Scientology and how she was able to leave. This provides a view into how a family is recruited into the religion and the reasons Remini ultimately left. Throughout the book you see how the author struggles with the belief that when things are going poorly it is because of a fault within you and when your life is going well then Scientology is the reason.

This book led to lots of good discussion and insights into the religion of Scientology, especially the experience of a famous member versus those of a regular member.
