Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Inspired by my passion for drabbles, I have just started up a new 100 word review blog, where I will be reviewing books, theatre, film and random miscellany!

The first post is now live.

I hope you enjoy it!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Dying to see your first review of a random miscellany!
Looks good. I particularly look forward to 100 word theatre reviews. I think you did one (or maybe more) on your old website?

message 3: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Thank you. Yes, I did do several theatre reviews in that style. It's a good way of getting to the heart of things in a small space.

New review just added for Message in a Bottle. :)

message 4: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well, I've got to like that one! :)

Stephanie Ward (stephmward) Love your blog (great idea) and your wonderful review of Two Boys Kissing. I'm adding it to my To Read List now. Thx!

message 8: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Thanks, Jud and Stephanie. Sorry for the late reply. I'll be honest; I forgot I'd started this thread and just found it when I planned to start a new thread for this!!

So, a bunch of reviews have gone up in the mean time and I have plenty more planned.

Catch up at www.100wordreviews.com with reviews so diverse they cover Pride, The Inbetweeners, Under the Skin, Collabro and the latest West End shows.

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments My latest 100 word review is the film Gone Girl, which is now one of my films of the year: http://www.100wordreviews.com/blog/go...

message 11: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments Nice review! I haven't seen it, but I read the book :)

message 12: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Thanks, Katy. Did you enjoy the book?

message 13: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments I did actually :) didn't expect to!

message 14: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I expected to and didn't! I know that a book and its film don't always seem like the same beast, though.

message 15: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Usually the film doesn't come close to the book. I can't say in this case, having not read the book, but it's a darn good standalone movie.

Just finished reading the superb 'Chickens' by Julie McLaren. Review now up:

message 16: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I loved that book too. Glad you enjoyed it.

message 17: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments It was excellent, Kath, wasn't it?

Just popped the latest review online, this one for the film that won the Oscar for Best Film this year:

Jonathan, Gravity's review is a good one! (And it's a neat idea - I don't know how some people go on and on and on over Amazon eulogizing why they have liked a romance novel or memoir - who has time for lengthy reviews?!)

You did not mention the crucial part background music played in the film, but whatever - to each his own. Best of luck!

Did Kidman's face move in 'Before I go to sleep'? It's hard to watch her nowadays.

Do 'guardian of the galaxy' next. :)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Thanks for taking a look. It's true I omitted the music. Or rather the word limit forced me to omit it. I've made a note to listen to the soundtrack on Spotify. Great soundtrack!

Haha. Kidman gets some stick, doesn't she? Her face may have twitched now and again. I actually don't mind watching her. She's sensational in Dogville.

Thanks for visiting the blog :)

message 28: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments I like a good horror myself, Noorilhuda! Only heard of Ouija out of the others you mention.

message 29: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Just posted a couple of new reviews, one for a cosy Christmassy book and another for one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen!

message 31: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Watched The Theory of Everything last night. Marvellous! I have to say that, for me, the very good Imitation Game pales in comparison.

Noorilhuda | 116 comments cool Jonathan. And what a way to sum it up: 'Haynes is the new King' ! (if that doesn't get people interested in his book I'll b surprised!)

message 42: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Thank you, Kath and Noorilhuda. The author did all the work, though :)

message 43: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments My 100-word review blog has been grossly neglected recently so I've attempted to make up for it with three new book reviews:

http://www.100wordreviews.com

message 44: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I've read two of those and enjoyed them. Maybe I should read the third?
