EDWARD IS A SEX GOD THAT IS ALL
hahahah I can't wait to finish reading Anna and the French Kiss so I can fully focus on Twilight for this week! Read alongs always feel so complex to me because when I read a book, I want to focus on it completely. I'm so excited to continue reading with you guys though! <3 xx

AAAAH I think I've fallen In love with him all over again.
So... Much... Attractiveness....can't....handle.... It!!

aaaanyway it totally is weird not putting 100% into a book!! I'm so used to devouring them in one sitting!
But taking my time, I realize I've noticed a lot more small details than i normally do!

I love the smaller details about the characters I didn't notice before. Like Bella, how she said she agonizes over making decisions, but it is totally cool once she's made one. I totally relate to that and I love how Stephanie includes small character details like that.

I think Edward's expectation of her reaction to the Port Angeles incident was a little much. I mean she was definitely pretty cool about it, but her going into shock and all these other reactions he was expecting were a bit unrealistic except in maybe an extreme case...especially considering he stopped anything serious from happening to her that might cause a dramatic reaction. Even if pretty upsetting, shock is a bit extreme. I realize he was exaggerating, but it still irked me a little. However, if that's the worst I'm going to come across, I think I can deal with it. ;D

That being said, her comfortable reaction was impressive and I think the fact that she was so cool shows just how comfortable and safe she is around Edward despite her always being told to be afraid of him. Clearly he is doing a great job of convincing her to stay away haha.

I actually thought the fact that he thought she might go into shock was kind of endearing!
Only because i felt like since Edward is so detached from humans, he thinks of them like fragile little dolls. Especially since Carlisle is a doctor. I think he always sees people get hurt and stuff like that so he just automatically assumes things.

But in reality it takes a bit more to hurt a human girl than he thought! So in a way while Bella is learning about vampires, Edward is also relearning what it's like to be human again.

Anyway, that's just what I got from it. I'm probably wrong though!

Also, I think he is hot. So I like everything he does AHAHAHA

I don't think that's wrong! Anyway we interpret it is right haha.

Obviously I'm biased as a regular human woman who surrounds herself with regular human women, most of which would not act like that.

At first I was like well maybe it's because he grew up turn of the century when female hysteria was so commonly believed, but then I threw that out the window because he has still been around to see the evolution of society.

One thing your thought did make me consider that I hadn't thought about was how even though he mixes himself among humans, I didn't think about how little he really interacts with them. He goes to school, but until Bella, the only company he kept was with his family. You can't learn much that way. Despite that Bella is definitely special in a lot of ways, I do think he's a bit mistaken by believing that she is special in this instance and is the only woman to react so calmly; however, he would think that if he doesn't know any better ha and wouldn't even know that much about women if his lack of ability to read her mind didn't make him curious in the first place.

Makes you wonder, would they still have fallen in love and taken an interest in each other if he could have read her mind from the beginning? After all, she might not think all that different, but he wouldn't know and it's that mystery that pushes him to get to know her.

Gah, I love this book! So many thoughts and theories!

Edward is so hot! I know we're not far enough to talk about it yet, but I've always had a soft spot for Emmett. (More on that later in later sections!) ;D

♥♥Mari♥♥ (twilightdreamlover) It's very definitely true that more details emerge on subsequent readings of "Twilight" (which will also be the case with the rest of the books). This time around, I noticed that Stephenie Meyer actually tells the reader that Jacob is a wolf shapeshifter (or a werewolf, whichever terminology people prefer to use) at the very beginning of Chapter 7! This is within the context of a nightmare Bella is having, but still, it's a huge clue, and it's right there in the very first book in the series. I know I didn't really pay attention the first time I read the book. Incredibly, I also failed to pay attention to it in later readings. This reading, though (my fifth), is entirely different, for some reason.

I also watched the first movie last Saturday night, and was amazed at all the differences between the movie and the novel. The basic plot is the same, but there are so many details that have been changed or added. Even the dialogues are not entirely the same.

This is proving to be a VERY interesting experience!! : )

*possible spoilers for those who haven't read the whole series*

oh my gosh! I noticed the wolf thing too!
I was like WOAH BELLA CAN SEE THE FUTURE! (Because she describes him in. The dream exactly like what he looks like in the future!)

It kind of makes me feel dumb for not seeing the whole Jacob thing when I first read the series!!

I was SO BLIND!!!!

I TOTALLY forgot so much. I watch the movies monthly, but I completely forgot everything about the book. I honestly thought the whole "vampire" conversation happened in the woods like the movie, but it was in the car after Port Angeles!

The whole "How old are you?" "Seventeen." "How long have you been seventeen?" "A while." bit makes me laugh so hard hahhaha. Like it's so ridiculous how they're just casually talking about the fact that Edward is like a century old ahahhha. As I'm reading it, I'm just like "This is DEFINITELY fantasy." lol

I love the last paragraph on 195 "About three things I was absolutely positive. First,(blah blah blah I'm too lazy to type it) And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him. It's been stuck in my mind since the first time I read the books, and I honestly say that line to my boyfriend all the time and he has yet to realize it's from Twilight HAHA

I KNOW RIGHT?!?! And like, come on. Edward turned out to be a vampire after Jacob told her the legend. And Jacob flat out says his family descends from werewolves! Like, how can you not make that connection?!!?!!?!? hahahh

♥♥Mari♥♥ (twilightdreamlover) Emma wrote: "I TOTALLY forgot so much. I watch the movies monthly, but I completely forgot everything about the book. I honestly thought the whole "vampire" conversation happened in the woods like the movie, bu..."

I LOVE those lines, too!! It's obvious that she totally accepts and loves him. But then, she can tell that Edward DOES care for and about her. She feels totally SAFE with him. That might at first glance seem crazy, but Bella can feel Edward's inner being, or soul, which is actually very gentle. This inner being -- which, ironically, he thinks he doesn't have -- is his true self, carried over from his human life. Edward doesn't want to be a monster because, inside, he's still human, with human moral values. And those values include valuing life, and loving people. OHHHH, I'm feeling SO swoooony.....Lol.

I did the same thing! I totally forgot the whole thing happened in the car, because I only remembered it being the way it is in the movie in the woods!

Yeah, I felt blind, too! It was right there in front of me.....so funny! : )

The very same thing happened to me! I only remembered the scene in the woods.

Another scene I remembered differently was the one in which Edward is telling Bella about his family's history. In the book, that takes place inside the Cullen house. In the movie, it takes place outdoors, near this huge lake in the mountains.

Funny how much the movie can alter your memory of the book.

message 17: by Selena (new)

Selena | 47 comments Mod
It really can! And I think that's why unfortunately so many people started to fall out of love with the book, because the movie changed the way they remembered it.

message 18: by Selena (new)

Selena | 47 comments Mod
Because even I started to forget just how good the books were!
(And believe me, I was obsessed)
I started to think
"Ugh Bella is so depressing! Why did I ever get so obsessed with those books"
When in reality, Bella is hardly winey or depressing. Actually she's sassy and kind of hilarious.

message 19: by Kelli (new)

Kelli (potterdancer) Honestly I don't want to watch the movies. I'm really not a big fan of Kristen Stewart or Rob Pattinson so I feel like watching them will ruin the books

You have never seen them?!?!?!? They're honestly not THAT bad. I actually like to watch them from time to time. You just have to push the negativity away from your mind and let yourself enjoy the storyline.
And not let the people who hate it just because it's Twilight alter your feelings about it.
In the end, the books and the movies should be completely separate from eachother. You shouldn't let one ruin the other for yourself!
Even though it's easier said than done lol

OMG and another thing. It's really small but in Chapter 10, once Bella and Edward get to school and Jessica wants to know what happened in Port Angeles and Edward reads her mind and the conversation is something like:
Edward: "She wants to know if we're secretly dating and how you feel about me."
Bella: "What do I say?"
Edward: "Well I guess you could say yes to the first, because it's easier than any other explanation. And the second... well, I'll be listening for that answer myself."
And then gives her a crooked smile and walks away.

Like I'm literally blushing, myself lmao. I forgot what an attractive character Edward is and how much I love his personality. I seriously did not remember him this way due to years of no reading and straight movie influence, but he is literally perfect haha

And Preston, Jace and Edward are in two complete different classes of men. Therefore equally hot in their own way :D

message 31: by Elmy (new)

Elmy Its so funny, this is my first time reading the books and I've seeing all the movies but the characters are different, Edward jokes a lot in the book and Bella is sassy sometimes but in the movies they are not, Edward is serious and mysterious and Bella is really Awkward. I am liking the book more than I thought I would, definitely better than the movie by far, I'm so happy!! :D

*so this may be a spoiler if you haven't read the book or watched the movie

But I HATE how in the movie they make Edward sparkle. Us twi-hards get (excuse my language) so much shit about Edward being gay because he sparkles and real vampires don't sparkle. (Especially from boys)

Um first of all, who died and made you king of the vampire cliché?!?!?

And secondly, if anyone would just take a minute to read the book, Edward doesn't really sparkle (at least not in the i-just-sprinkled-glitter-all-over-myself way) it mentions SO MANY TIMES that Edwards skin is like diamonds.

The last time I checked diamonds and glitter looked like complete different things to me!

It makes me grumpy!! Ahaha

End of rant I promise lol

This is only slightly related, but has anyone ever heard of a youtuber called Alex Day aka nerimon?? A while back, he made vlogs on him reading all of Twilight, chapter by chapter, and pretty much just shits on it. I still think it's funny with his comments to certain parts, but I was just wondering if anyone had seen his videos hahah here's the first one if anyone wants to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L253...
