Which book(s) according to you could be way way better than what it ended up to be? And, how so?

The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai

I did not like the way the story wound up at the end... But then I guess that's why Ms Desai chose that title... :(

Eon: rise of the dragoneye. The book was a waste of time though it was a little bit interesting in parts but the end and some other stuff wasn't good enough. Or maybe the writing.

The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald is a great writer but this is one book I could not get my head around. The book could've been awesome only it lacked the clarity that a story should have. It was difficult to understand how things got where they did, in the beginning of the scone chapter, from where they were, at the end of the first. The book was good but this was disturbing. The question "How?" Keeps coming to your mind.

Ditto. Hated that book...

message in a bottle....I loved the book but the ending broke my heart...I love Nicolas Sparks but that ending made it the 1st book to ever make me cry...

The Immortal Circus: Final Act

This trilogy had a lot of potential and just seemed to fall apart at the end. I remember thinking that the author may have written himself into a corner and hadn't actually thought of how the story would end. The ending he wrote just seemed like a cop out to me.

I wish that the series continued on from the perspective of the first book. But, that series was really good.

Gone Girl...I loved the entire thing and then it just ended. It got so much hype I was expecting more from it.

Mockingjay. Collins had a good principle idea, a good base and two great primary books. But Mockingjay, disapointing. It could have been amazing, the finale to Katniss' efforts in the rebillion, the tension beteewn the districts, and Katniss' importance in the rebillion. However, the book was very boring, pointless and a disaponting ending. She chooses Peeta, which bothered me immensely. Personnaly, I don't care who the heck she's choosing, but being mad at Gale because he had no idea that his bombs would be used in tha way? That was just Collins quick way out. Final answer the ending sucked.

"Handle With Care" by Jodi Picoult. I hated the ending, and thought that after so much drama throughout the story, a better conclusion was a given.

Left to me, all stories will have fairy tale, happy endings! :)

Would 'Love Story' be same if Jennie were to live? Or, Oliver to remarry? He did in the sequel, and how many read that book? Or the sequel to 'Gone with the Wind'? Or remember what the sequels were about? Except that they hated them?

I don't think I can better a book or its ending. Its how the writer envisioned the book and manifested it. Its perfect the way it is, if its a good book. And, if its a bad book, why bother!?

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. The book was amazing (it's one of my favourite books of 2014) but the end was not good at all it was a major let down

It's all about YA series for me.
1. Allegiant. Get rid of the first 2/3 of the book. So boring. I would have rather read more about what happened after it ended than the first 2/3 of it.
2. Mortal Instruments books 4 & 5. I read all of book 4 and it was okay, but felt like after book 3 it was a let down. I couldn't even finish book 5. Just ick. Never read 6.

I know what you mean, except it wasn't the ending the bugged me. I thought it was really boring for the first part of the book I was wondering why everyone was praising it until I got to the middle of it. The ending I could accept because it was majorly messed up like the characters.

I agree, I felt the same here

I have to agree with some of you about books that get over hype and then don't live up to the hype. You then sit there and wonder if this book is so popular then why don't I like it? is there something wrong with me? To me to tell someone to read something just because its a best seller is like tell someone to vote for the most popular or best looking candidate. I mean this isn't a popularity contest, this is about reading because we enjoy to read!

Paper Towns- John Green. The book we really good until the ending. The ending was disappointing, I felt like there was a build up to nothing

I agree with you! I loved the first Hunger Games book, but didn't much care for the second. I was hoping that "Mockingjay" would get back to more of the excitement of the first book, and I was interested in seeing how the impending rebellion would be handled...but I certainly agree that Ms. Collins took the easy way out. That epilogue portion was such a disappointing cop-out.

It was a book I read a few years ago, now, but I really didn't like "The Tenth Circle" by Jodi Picoult. (I think that's what it was called.) The plot was kind of unnecessarily weird to me, and I found it kind of boring. Then all of a sudden the characters were in Alaska, and the main girl's dad trying to track down his daughter's suspected rapist in the middle of a huge snowstorm; and I was just very confused.

Being Picoult of course, you gotta add in the legal/court plot, as well, but she also managed to throw some random comics in there (I guess the main girl's dad was a comic book author/artist); which I felt took away from the story.

Not her finest book, in my opinion.

I was so excited for "The Blood of Olympus", but I feel like Riordan rushed the story a lot :(

I'm going to get a lot of crap for this, but....Harry Potter. Love the series, the ending wasn't horrible, but it just kind of felt like a cop out. It could have been better.

I completely agree, I was disappointed with this book. I also felt Suzanne Collins wasn't sure which direction she wanted to take with this book.

I also thought the book The Host could have gone in an exciting direction but didn't, I'm a fan of Stephenie Meyer's general ideas for the book but it needed more, it dragged a lot.

Cruel beauty. It had an amazing story, awesome characters and the ending just went meh and made no sense. I was highly disappointed in it. My fiance witnessed me put the book down and slide it off the table. On another note I wish the sister would get a spin off series. I adored her. She was awesome

I think this book had an amazing plot and storyline but, the characters were not developed enough and the book went flat :(

I will agree with Gone Girl. I devoured that book. Then in the last few pages I kept (view spoiler)[ waiting for how she was going to get caught and punished. But it never came. After searching around for any missing pages or chapters, I threw this book against my wall. (hide spoiler)]

Allegiant. Not because of the ending, but because I found it incredibly badly written and full of silly ideas. It's a pity, though, because the first two books in the trilogy weren't bad at all, even if a bit too similar to The Hunger Games trilogy.

Well I loved the books I am choosing.
Just one day & Just one year by Gayle Forman. Just one day was my favorite of the two by a little bit. I am just bummed about the endings in both books. They led up with great plot and story line just to end up at the same door and meet again. Just one year had a few more words at the end and it was Willem's side of the story. I also would of liked just one year be half about What happened to Willem after the day with Allyson "Lulu" and the next part be a whole year adventure with the two of them really getting to know each other and trying new things. I really think that it would of satisfied fans of these books if they continued to travel where ever fate took them.

this book made me pick it up because it had the interest and the mystery, such as, is it a murder or suicide, but the book did not deliver what it advertised... it's main focus were the twin girls instead of the dead girl and I just dislike the book so much especially the ending. it took me forever to finish, I thought about calling quits so many times

Probably Eclipse Bella was so insipid and whiny! The movies were even worse than the books -- and so much hype!
