52. A book published in 2018

The Flight Attendant ( Chris Bohjalian is one of my fav authors , so I'm excited to read something new by him)
and
Sometimes I Lie because this sounded so interesting.
I think I also have The Hazel Wood and The Great Alone on my Pop Sugar plan. Both on pre-order also.

I read Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between by Lauren Graham and I loved it. Plus I'm a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan :)
I am busy catching up on everything I've missed the last 10 years x_x So normally I don't read newer books unless it's an author I LOVE.

Hahaha! Lucky me -- I just won a copy in a Goodreads Giveaway!

Hahaha! Lucky me -- I just won a copy in a Goodreads Giveaway!" The Music Shop sounds super good. I'll keep my eye out for it, since I didn't win a free copy...lucky you.
I will definitely end up using a Book of the Month Club choice on this prompt, because nearly all of my new release reads are from them.
But, in the spirit of planning, I found a few new releases to add to my TBR, and if I get around to them, yay!
The Music Shop (January 2nd)
The Immortalists (January 9th)
I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes With Death (February 6th)
All the Beautiful Lies (April 3rd)
War Storm (May 15th)
Also, The Broke and the Bookish had their Top Ten Tuesday on this one, so if you're interested in getting a variety of book blogger's recommendations, you can look here.

After I settle on one, I can probably parse the other books on this list out to other categories.

The Atomic City Girls
Why did you choose this book?
I had an ARC from LibraryThing so I needed to get it read.
Do you usually try to read very recent books?
Nope. I read 9 new releases last year and that seemed like a lot to me. I'm always behind on my TBR so I never usually get to new releases in a timely manner.

Oooo I didn't know it had a name already. How exciting!

The Cruel Prince
The Great Alone
[book:The Wife Between Us|34..."
I just finished The Immortalists and really enjoyed it. I found the main characters all unique and interesting.

Why did you choose this book?
I had found it last year looking for ideas for this prompt and it caught my eye. So I got it from BOTM club for my January pick
Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I generally do not. I just read whatever happens to catch my eye at the time.
Finished 1/22/18 #3 of 52

Misplaced Trust by G K Parks
- Why did you choose this book?
I am invested in this series and look forward to new books from this series being published.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
Not usually, I just choose books that look interesting to me

The Woman in the Window by The Woman in the Window. I was skeptical about this one as it's one of those "if you liked Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train..." books. I loathed Gone Girl and didn't care for TGotT either. This was much better.
- Why did you choose this book?
1) People kept referencing Hitchcock when referring to this book and I'm a fan
2) I'd had it on hold at the library and it became available
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
Sometimes - depends on the author or the plot.

I'm currently reading Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella

why did you choose this book?
She is on my 'list' of authors who I like and I read all books as they publish! I think I still have one or two of hers I need to read, but I've read almost everything of hers so far.
do you usually try to read very recent books?
If it's a standalone or a continuation of a series I am reading (although I generally stick to my rule of no series unless it's fully published). I also have my list of authors of which I will read everything they publish as soon as it's published. She is one of them.
There are of course always exceptions any time a book catches my eye or I hear everyone raving about it.

Lancothy: The Revelations of Oriceran
- Why did you choose this book?
I was gifted it from the author as a reward for reviewing the previous book. This is the 6th in the series.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I'm a bit all over the place. I don't tend to read recent books from well known authors, but I do tend to read a bit of self-published new stuff as I'm on a couple of authors ARC teams.

- Why did you choose this book?
Good buzz from people I follow
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I don't try to but seems like I do. You know, new...shiny

Force of Nature by Jane Harper
Why did you choose this book?
Her debut novel The Dry was one of my favorite reads last year. I was excited to read the next in the series.
Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I don't usually pick my books based on publication dates but I like to read books people are talking about so I read a good number of recent books.

The Cruel Prince
- Why did you choose this book?
It was on a book of books to watch out for in 2018, and my library let me request it before it was out and get on the waiting list.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I don't go out of my way to read new books, unless they're from an author I follow. But if i see a lot of people recommending them, or I see them mentioned in book recommendation lists, and they look good, I will try to see if I can get them from the library.

I don’t normally read new fiction, unless it is a series I am already reading. This one was that. I like to read books that I will enjoy, and very new fiction is often a miss. However, I prefer my nonfiction off the press. With nonfiction, the biggest decider is its topic, not so much writing style or literary genius, and I love to see the latest ideas/research.

I read very recent books if they are by an author I love, reviews are decent and if they're easily available.

- Why did you choose this book? The concept kind of intrigued me but I don't think it is going to help my impending doom that I deal with. It doesn't help either that it starts out in 1969 when I was born. I think it will be interesting though and hopefully a different kind of story line than I usually read.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books? I read a few a year but not many.

The Immortalists
- Why did you choose this book?
It came VERY highly recommended
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I try

I read How to Walk Away by Katherine Center
Why did you choose this book?
One of the ARCs I've received this year
Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I receive a lot of ARCs or eARCs through different sites, so I guess. There are still plenty that I miss though

Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover
Why did you choose this book?
It was recommended by All the Books, and the concept intrigued me, so I put it on hold via Libby.
Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I don't really try to, but I do like keeping up with new releases when they're either debuts that intrigue me, or from authors whose works I've enjoyed in the past. Sometimes it's fun to pick up something shiny and new and then dig into it right away. :)

Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce
- Why did you choose this book?
I chose this book for this category because I was so excited to read it that I pre-ordered it. I love this author, and *almost* everything she has ever written
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I don't try to read them, but I do end up reading more recent books because I hear more about them and get excited for them.

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
- Why did you choose this book?
My monthly book club read it for April (they ALL loved it by the way and we rarely get 100% approval rating with 5 stars!)
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I purposely try not to. There are so many on my list (and my shelves) from years before that I have not finished. Sadly I often lose this battle.

- Why did you choose this book? I just finished the previous two books in the series.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books? I try to read a few a year.

I do like to own new books, but my TBR list is friggen huge so...yeah, doesn't always happen as I try to make a dent in the books bought in previous years.

Bookworm: A Memoir of Childhood Reading by Lucy Mangan
Why did you choose this book?
It’s about the author’s love of reading as a child. As soon as I read the blurb it brought back so many happy memories of my own childhood favourite books that I knew I’d have to read it.
Do you usually try to read very recent books?
Not really. I would like to, but I often get discouraged by long waiting lists at the library for new releases, or the fact that they’re often quite expensive to buy.

Ryan's Bed by Tijan
- Why did you choose this book?
I put a hold in Overdrive and forgot about it.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I try to read recent books, but mostly they go to my want to read list.

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert
Why did you choose this book?
I had a list of 4 books that I was for sure going to try and this year and this one was the first one that the library sent me.
Do you usually try to read very recent books?
I try and read a few new books every year.

I read Varina by Charles Frazier
- Why did you choose this book?
It was chosen by one of my groups as a book read. I love the time period (American Civil War) and Charles Frazier as well. Cold Mountain being on my favorites list. And, finally, it was on-sale at Amazon for $1.99.
- Do you usually try to read very recent books?
Unfortunately, I operate on a limited budget, so I tend to get to books a little late unless I can get on the library waiting list in time to allow me to read them the year they are published. Still, there are so many good books out there that I haven't read, it isn't really a problem, is it.

I'm reading All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover.
Why did you choose this book?
I've never read anything by Colleen Hoover and I've heard a lot of great things about her books. This book in particular has a lot of good reviews so I'm excited to pick it up.
Do you usually try to read very recent books
Not really. The only time I ever really wonder about the publication date of a book is if I want to complete a reading challenge where the publication date has to be considered.
