It's time for our January nominations.

Nomination Rules
1. One nomination per person.
2. Classic books only (over 50 years old).
3. Books can be of any length, but if a book wins and is over 600 pages, we will read it over a two month period.
4. No book we have read before as a group read.*
5. No book from an author who we have read in the last 10 months.†
6. To facilitate poll creation, please use a Goodreads link to add the nomination by clicking on 'add book/author' above the text box.
7. Please indicate whether or not you would be willing to lead the discussion if your nomination is chosen.

Hi Shannan,
leading a discussion entails setting up the threads (though I can help with that), adding some background information like for example links to an author biography or an article that has interesting information about the book, the time period it is set in and similar, maybe asking some questions for people to think about while reading. Generally, the idea is to have someone who gives some structure to the group read but everyone has their personal way of doing this.

We always ask the persons who nominate books whether they would be willing to lead the discussion because it helps to have a discussion leader that actually also reads along with the group. We moderators don't join all the reads ourselves, and then it is more difficult to lead the discussion.

You don't have to decide right now, think about it and let me know. And if you have more questions, feel free to post them here or drop me a message.
