Which one and why?

I think fantasy is better because I enjoy the action and the powers a fantasy character has, plus Im more fantasy then real life since fantasy helps me escape my real life.

this is another version of that one debate, "realists vs. dreamers" They concluded that "You see the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists... well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground."

but still, in this area, I am siding with the fantasists or the dreamers.

To me it is harder to suspend my disbelief when reading fantasy, so I would say that science fiction is better for me as I can relate to it more.

Also, I feel that science fiction that is grounded in real science can be more interesting to read as it acts as a vision of a possible future.

My preference for writing Fantasy is that I have this deep-seated fear of some fan attacking me because my interstellar warp drive isn't scientifically realistic. Fortunately, no one can make such an argument if it's a magic system of my own creation.

Also, I think fantasy taps in better to the mythological archetypes that permeates our subconscious. Science Fiction is a bit tougher to tap into that.

But really the division is between those who dream about the future, and those who are nostalgic for the past.

Fantasy, because it wraps you up in a world full of magic and mystery and it helps you escape into the "world of unknown."

I have not read a lot of fantasy books or science fiction but from what I have read, it really depends on the author and the skills of the reader. Both have excellent books.

Fantasy. I'm not the biggest science nerd.

I prefer fantasy because it's easier for me to become lost in the book and I can usually relate to characters easier.
