November's theme is Changes. Changes in seasons or nature, in life, character, or personality are all possibilities. Shifts in a political or cultural scene or in location could also work.

What will you be reading? Do you see any other ways this theme could apply?

I am going to have to think about this one for a while, but I am sure I will be able to find at least one book about this wide-ranging topic.

Tracey | 916 comments I think I'm going to read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine which looks like it's about the growth/change in a character.

Paula Bardell-Hedley (gaiabird) | 195 comments I'm not sure what I'm going to read for this challenge but please count me in!

I just finished Death of a Salesman, which has themes relating to change.
The first change is losing a job, when Willy gets fired. Another change is that his wife becomes a widow after his death. This was a sad book.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Finished The Little Things: Why You Really Should Sweat the Small Stuff - which is a non-fiction book about challenging yourself.

Glennis | 172 comments I'm reading Under the Shadow by Lana Williams... It's the story of their journey through her son's tragic head-on traffic collision. Lots of changes.... One minute, a rising new vocalist...the next, desperately broken in the Trauma ICU. He would have to re-learn virtually everything...including speaking and singing as he's had a tracheotomy performed. This is their family's testament of faith that gets them through.

I was fortunate to meet this amazing young man about a year ago. He has the most incredible voice....even through it all. Look them up,,,he sings with Tenore.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Finished Two Man Advantage - and while M/M romance is not my usual read, I must say that this was well-written and definitely dealt with life changes for the MCs.

amber_reads_romance | 201 comments Finished Paper Princess-Loved it! Definately fit the theme-tons of changes going on in this story.

LindaH | 153 comments I just read Atonement by Ian McEwan, the first half of which is about the life-altering events in one day, and the second half of which records the changes the affected characters undergo.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Finished Silence Fallen - definitely has Mercy undergoing some changes as she escapes the bad guys in Europe

message 13: by Tr1sha (new)

Tr1sha | 828 comments I read The Lost Child - Ann Troup & really enjoyed it. The book starts with a woman travelling to an area where her mother had lived, in order to scatter her mother's ashes. This simple action changes her own life & the lives of several other people.

I read All for Love, in which the main character takes the place of her identical cousin. She changes into her cousin's clothes, name & life, and of course other changes ensue.

Paula Bardell-Hedley (gaiabird) | 195 comments I have just read In Search of Nice Americans by Geoff Steward, a non-fiction travelogue of sorts about a British lawyer who turns his back on his stressful job and sets off on a road trip across America. He is inevitably changed by the experience, so I'm hoping this one fits the theme for November!

Absolutely, Paula!

message 17: by Christine (new)

Christine | 20 comments I have read The Power of Habits.. as I am trying to make some changes.

message 18: by Celia (new)

Celia (cinbread19) | 50 comments I am looking at all of these selections for changes and am quite impressed. If I have time, I will try to read a book that will change ME. Always room for improvement.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Finished Melting Ice: Seattle Sockeyes Hockey - another novel where the MCs are undergoing changes in their life.

message 20: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (chocoholic1976) I am reading A Long Walk to Water, a YA novel about two young people from Sudan. One is a refuge. The other continues to live in Sudan. It's an impressive read with the contrast of consistency versus change.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Finished Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us - a book about motivation and how to tap into it
