At this point in the book, there are two Merlins. I believe the older one is the traditional Merlin known from the Sword in the Stone story. But, this book did not really have a sword in the stone, just Excalibur from the lady of the lake. (Really, most of my knowledge of this story comes from the Disney cartoon and Monty Python!)

Just finished this section of the book.

I am pretty sure this is a good photo representation of the family tree in this book:

Jessica-sim haha oh Matthew! I'm behind, but read it before and hmm yeah well ... what can I say, indeed quite a good representation

Could be an episode of Jerry Springer. Or, Maury when he reveals who the father is.

That pretty much sums it up!! But don't send any of them to Steve Wilkos for a lie detector test, haha!!!!! I am enjoying the book overall, but was Gwenwyfar as annoying in the original Arthurian legends as she is in this story? It's been many, many years since I read any of the original stories and I don't remember much about her other than the well-known tales.

Jessica-sim She really is annoying isn't she! I also never know who I am rooting for...

Phil J | 18 comments It's confusing. This is supposed to be a feminist novel, yet none of the women seem particularly admirable. The men, especially Merlin and Arthur, are easier to root for.

Agree totally with the last few comments. I am wondering what her actual intent was and how much she has forced the story in a certain direction to meet her agenda?
